How to spice up your treadmill workout

Wednesday- 4 miles+ shoulder workout

Thursday- 3 miler

Yesterday my sisters came to visit me and Jackson. Jackson was so excited to play with his cousins. He mostly observed, but was totally entertained and loves feeling cool and playing with the ‘big kids.’

Later that night I hosted a book club. We read “Heaven is Here” by Stephanie Nielson. Stephanie was in a terrible plane crash with her husband in 2008 where she burned 80% of her body. It’s the story of how he and her husband survived. I love it! I enjoyed having some of my girlfriends over to discuss it too. I had fruit, dip, and some brownies. I forgot to take a pic of the before, but this is what’s left of the brownies. . .

Treadmill Boredom

My daily email that I get from Active was right on time for me this morning. Due to the frozen temperatures outside I have been running on my treadmill everyday. I get bored and haven’t been doing too many long runs. I think the author Jason Fitzgerald had some great workouts to enjoy treadmill running. I’ll share one of them with you:

1. Make a 60 min playlist-when each song changes you run a fartlek that alternates between an easy recovery pace and a more challenging effort pace.

He has a lot of great ideas. You can look up the article here.

I increased my speed by .1 every mile for only 3 miles. I didn’t have time to do a longer run, so tomorrow I’m going to try one of his other ideas. I’ll let you know how it goes!

Later today I invited my friend Mary to a play group my neighbor was having. It was a lot of fun. There were so many kids and so many fun toys. I told J to smile, and he wanted to take the picture, that’s why he’s so close to me haha Hope your having a great Friday Eve=)

About Sugar Plum Runner

Welcome to the Sugar Plum Runner! I grew up in WA state, but currently reside in UT with my husband Josh, son Jackson, and 2 daughters Lily and Claire. I love running, but I have never been so inspired to run, race, and blog about it since 4 years ago after I had Jackson. I grew up playing soccer and cheered in high school. My favorite part of both sports(and yes I consider cheer leading a sport) was the conditioning. I found myself running after practice was over on my own. That's when I realized that running may be the sport I really loved.
