Favorite Running Gear

Here is a list of things that  I love to use on a regular basis:

1. First things first, a good sports bra.

I buy my sports bras a size smaller for more support

Look for a thick band for more coverage

It doesn’t have to be expensive. I got 2 sports bras from Old Navy for $20.

2. Treadmill

Apparently UT wants to mimic Antarctica because it has been FREEZING! My treadmill has been a lifesaver! Now that I have Jackson, I use it a lot during the summer too. I researched and found the treadmill that I loved(NorkicTrack 2500R), and then I went on a site similar to Craigslist until I found it. It’s normally $1800 and I got it lightly used for $400!

3. Nike plus training band

The Nike + is $60 compared to Garmins that can be over $200.  Although Nike+ doesn’t have GPS, I think it’s great for casual runners. I love being able to track my runs and see my progress.

About Sugar Plum Runner

Welcome to the Sugar Plum Runner! I grew up in WA state, but currently reside in UT with my husband Josh, son Jackson, and 2 daughters Lily and Claire. I love running, but I have never been so inspired to run, race, and blog about it since 4 years ago after I had Jackson. I grew up playing soccer and cheered in high school. My favorite part of both sports(and yes I consider cheer leading a sport) was the conditioning. I found myself running after practice was over on my own. That's when I realized that running may be the sport I really loved.

  1. I love my Garmin and my headphones + iphone for training runs. Also, if it’s cold I think it’s so important to have good gloves and something to cover your ears.

Thanks for the tips on good products! I wanted to get a running band that was not as fancy as Garmin, but does the job efficiently! My favorite running gear at the moment are the Paradox running pants at Costco! With these Frigid temps here in UT they have become my staple! Whether i use them to run when the temps are 32+ or sprinting in to the gym to jump on a treadmill, these babies keep my legs n bum moving;0). Great job on finding an awesome deal on that treadmill. Don’t you miss the fresh, crisp Washington air? I still love Utah though! I’m Sledding when this smog clears out!

    • I really the fresh WA air! Luckily I get to visit my parents a lot and I take full advantage of running up there. I love UT too, but I’m hoping the cold weather dies off soon. Or at least the inversion! I love Costco! did you get those pants recently? I’ll have to go check them out.

  3. I am obsessed with Under Armour running tights. They are ridiculously expensive but I have two pairs and they’ve lasted years. They’re the only tights that don’t ride up! If this weather keeps up I might have to invest in a treadmill too. My lungs can’t take it.

  4. I agree-a good sports bra is so important! I also love the Gap workout line 🙂

I totally agree- a good sports bra is where it’s at! Old Navy has an amazing workout line, I’m newly obsessed with it!
