What would you do?+ goals


Saturday- 5 miles, 9:10 pace + arm/ab workout

What would you do if you had planned to run a half and it was cancelled? I wish I told you that I braved the snow and ran my own half marathon. Then answer is I didn’t. Not even close ha. I did however stay in my warm clothes and house and stick to the comfort of my treadmill. I even got to watch He’s Just Not That Into You.


After the 5 miles on the treadmill I decided to do a longer body workout. I love when workouts mix arm/leg workouts like these moves: (Free App: Nike Training Club)




1.Well, I didn’t injure myself this week so, check!

2. Josh and I were able to get a 1 on 1 date this week too! Wednesday night my SIL came over and watched J so we could visit the Draper Temple.


3. I didn’t race this week, so my third goal to finish strong, run hard, and be comfortable with the uncomfortable will have to apply to my next race.

Goals 3/24-31

1. Enjoy my last week of running with my buddy Lindsay before she moves.

2. Dye Easter eggs with the family/ make Easter morning fun.

3. Get a couple good runs outside while it’s nice out this week.

Welcome to the Sugar Plum Runner! I grew up in WA state, but currently reside in UT with my husband Josh, son Jackson, and 2 daughters Lily and Claire. I love running, but I have never been so inspired to run, race, and blog about it since 4 years ago after I had Jackson. I grew up playing soccer and cheered in high school. My favorite part of both sports(and yes I consider cheer leading a sport) was the conditioning. I found myself running after practice was over on my own. That's when I realized that running may be the sport I really loved.

    I love dying easter eggs!! I hope I get to do that this weekend. I’m not optimistic. I’d be bummed if they cancelled a half on me but it looks like you made the most of it! Staying injury free is always a good goal in my book.

  2. My family dyes Easter eggs and then we end up eating tons of egg salad for the couple weeks after Easter haha!

  3. that stinks about the race but don’t worry, there will be more. I think you proved to yourself you can train for one at any time and be ready for it when it comes.

  6. I actually did run my own half once…it was in the middle of a sweltering July and there were no other halfs in the area during that time (for obvious reason). I had my fiance ride his bike along with me, and although it was my worst time ever, it’s one of my favorite “races”. I also, signed up for a 10k a few months ago that I was going to run beyond that to do a half marathon. The 10k got cancelled and rather then go and run it myself, I’m pretty sure I snuggled on the couch and watched the same movie. You win some you lose some…

  7. I LOVE dyeing Easter eggs, but I never eat them or do anything with them afterwards, so it’s almost a waste. If I had small children around, I think it would be more fun! To be honest, I probably wouldn’t have run my own half, either. I think I would have been discouraged from the cancellation.

    I also enjoyed a saturday treadmill run to He’s just not that into you! I have def seen that movie over 30 times and it never gets old. Makes the miles go by too!

    I like to dye Easter Eggs and eat them ~ Deviled eggs are so good (which doesn’t seem quite right, does it? Deviled eggs on Easter?).
    Sorry your race was canceled. That’s a bummer.

  12. I probably… No, definitely would have stayed inside warm and cozy… but then probably would have signed up for another race right away 🙂

  13. Great goals for the week! I like dying Easter Eggs and decorating them too. I think it’s fun to make different colors out of the dye to use!
