Goals in Review


Monday- 3 miles, 9:20 pace + arm workout

J was not on the running train today. In fact, it was difficult to get the first mile in. I only got through the last 2 by bribing him with snacks and a show on TV. Even then he still was screaming at me so I said enough. Tomorrow is another day and maybe he’ll be ready then or I’ll just get up early. . . He doesn’t mind when I lift weights because I let him out of the play pin(I keep him in there while I’m running because I’m afraid he’d try and get on the treadmill, no I know he would haha).


Last week Over view:

1. Get one more tempo run in before race. Last Monday I had a good 7 mile tempo run.

2. Eat healthier snacks. I’ve eaten healthier this last week. It’s always easier when I buy easy/quick snacks. Recently I’m loving peanut butter pretzels, Greek yogurt, carrots and Wasabi Hummus, yum!


3. Bring the mileage back up between 20-25 miles. I hit 24.5=)

Goals 4/22-28

1. Get my house back in order/organized/clean-I was got a lot last week which was so fun, but I need to play catch up!

2. Work on a Food Storage plan for my family. One of my biggest fears is that my family would be put in harm, my second is not having food to provide for my boys. Now that we live in a house and plan on staying for awhile I want to work on have simple meals stored up in case we aren’t able to make it to the store. When certain areas in MA were put on lock down it made me think, what if that was us? Monday is my shopping day and our cupboards are usually pretty bare until I make it to the store. So, my goal is to change that.

3. Run a fun race this weekend and enjoy having my mom in town!!(This is the first race she gets to see me run!)

PS Last night we were invited to my SIL’s house to watch ‘What About Bob’ because I had never seen the whole thing. My in laws were shocked and set up a movie night immediately so that I could officially be part of the family;)

Welcome to the Sugar Plum Runner! I grew up in WA state, but currently reside in UT with my husband Josh, son Jackson, and 2 daughters Lily and Claire. I love running, but I have never been so inspired to run, race, and blog about it since 4 years ago after I had Jackson. I grew up playing soccer and cheered in high school. My favorite part of both sports(and yes I consider cheer leading a sport) was the conditioning. I found myself running after practice was over on my own. That's when I realized that running may be the sport I really loved.

    How hilarious is “what about Bob”? He’s so neurotic! I don’t really have any major goals this week. I understand the fear of not having enough food to sustain if you couldn’t go to the store. I try to keep a lot of canned goods and non-perishable goods just in case.

  2. I’ll gladly eat healthy snacks, but only if they’re easy and ready to eat straight out of the fridge. Otherwise, it’s a jar of PB for me!

    My MIL lives in a rural area and always keeps tons of food on hand. Good thing, too – once there was a HUGE ice storm that blocked all roads and killed their electricity for SEVEN days.

    Good job increasing your mileage! 🙂 That hummus sounds so good. Anything spicy is a winner in my book! Hooray for a race this weekend and for your mom being there for it.
    My latest goal is to run a ten miler this weekend. Woooo!

    I’m working on eating healthier snacks too- especially at night. I’m pretty good during the day, but at night I am terrible! Also working on getting my cardio endurance back up!

    Wasabi hummus sounds amazing! I have been snacking on these sriracha chili lime peas (kinda like the wasabi ones) they are yummy!!

    Goals for the week… I love that you do this. I pulled out my notebook now to write a few things down. I’ve got a few monthly goals… but I like the weekly goals, too!

  9. Carrots and hummus is theeee best snack!! I have never tried wasabi hummus, though. I will have to be on the lookout for that!

  10. I’ve never seen that movie…. I’m not even sure if I’ve heard about it before. Oops! My goal for this entire month was to do more intuitive eating, which has been relatively successful. My goal for next month is to not weigh myself at all! Trying to foster an even more positive body image of myself!

    One of my current goals is to starting increasing my weekly running mileage. I’m playing around with the idea of a fall marathon. I don’t want to commit yet, but I really need to build up my base if I want it to be a possibility.

  12. I love your healthy snacks! I always feel so much better when I eat healthy snacks throughout the day – I would love to be better at food prep during the weeks!!
