You’ve gotta believe (no I’m not referring to the Biebs)

Monday- 4.13 miles + 8 min abs + 15 min shoulder workout

During yesterdays workout I had a great aha moment. I always seem to have those while I’m running, but yesterday it’s one I hope will stick. I just kept upping my speed on the treadmill and it felt great. I usually start my treadmill runs at a 6.2mph and just go between that and a 6.5.Β  Not yesterday, I was at a 7.0 and it felt just fine! I just need to believe in my abilities. Not too long ago a 7.0 made me feel like I was going to die or that my legs were just going to fall off and hit the wall behind me. I’m glad I can see improvements and I hope I will keep working hard.

Other things that may have helped in the awesome run, my playlist.

I’m obsessed with these songs lately, don’t judge, they’re all over the place.

1. Selena Gomez: Come and Get it

2. Imagine Dragons: Demons

3. Fall Out Boy: My Songs Know What you Did in the Dark

And yes, I’ll listen to these over and over, you’re welcome=)

I hope everyone had a great Monday. I caught up on laundry as always and even snuck up to Salt Lake to see my mom just one last time. She was getting her hair did, my dad’s got one hot wife!

Then we were invited to my friends open house. I’m sad that they moved away from us, but happy that they’re finally in a home that’s big enough for them and all their fun parties they throw.

About Sugar Plum Runner

Welcome to the Sugar Plum Runner! I grew up in WA state, but currently reside in UT with my husband Josh, son Jackson, and 2 daughters Lily and Claire. I love running, but I have never been so inspired to run, race, and blog about it since 4 years ago after I had Jackson. I grew up playing soccer and cheered in high school. My favorite part of both sports(and yes I consider cheer leading a sport) was the conditioning. I found myself running after practice was over on my own. That's when I realized that running may be the sport I really loved.

  1. I’m not a big Fall Out Boy fan, but when the song you mentioned first came out I played it on repeat too πŸ™‚ I also like “burn it down” by Awolnation.

  2. Oh man, that trifle looks amazing!

Also, I’m totally into the band Fun right now!

That dessert looks amazing!! Glad you could sneak in one more visit with your mom! Have a great Tuesday πŸ™‚

  4. Ahh I am also equally obsessed with ‘Demons’! Actually, Imagine Dragon’s whole CD is pretty good – I bought it before my last half marathon and it did a good job of pumping me up.

  5. Come and Get It is such a great song!! Glad I’m not the only “older than selena” person who is into it!

  6. Good playlists seem to always help me too! I really need to update my itunes because I’m pretty sure I have had all of the same workout songs since high school, haha. They don’t seem to pump me up as much anymore. πŸ™‚

  7. Erin says:

I’ve been listening to a couple Imagine Dragon’s songs lately- not gonna lie kind of like them- and I am super picky! Good job girl, 7 is suuuuper fast for me!

That’s a great treadmill pace. Treadmills are killer and you know how to seriously rock it out. Running is definitely my outlet for ‘aha’ moments too, which is part of why running is my favorite thing to do. πŸ™‚ I thought I was the only one loving that Selena Gomez song – she is killing it! I listen to it on repeat too lady. πŸ™‚ Can’t wait for your giveaway!! Enjoy your Tuesday!

  9. I can NOT run without music. It really does help me so much. I’ll have to listen to that Selena song… sometimes I like her, sometimes not so much haha. Lately I’m loving “I don’t care” by Icona Pop – so good!

  10. So I just put a faster version of ‘Come and Get It’ on my playlist, love that song!!

I know you can rock 7.0 for sure! Or higher! Do some intervals on there and it will make you faster πŸ™‚

  11. Runner Girl Eats says:

I love the entire imagine dragons cd. I’m also still obsessed with all things Calvin Harris

Awesome workout & kudos to upping your speed to 7.0! I’m actually doing smething mildly similar… using the Couch to 5K training (treadmill intervals) schedule to increase my speed. πŸ˜‰ I range from 7.0 to 8.0 when I run doing these intervals. Ideally, I’d like to be able to run at an 8.0 pace for 30 min. with moderate ease. Yep, using an easy traning schedule (i.e. Couch to 5K) for increased speed was my “aha moment.” Lol!

  13. I’m obsessed with Blurred Lines by Robin Thicke. I cannot get enough of it! I’m also obsessed with Radioactive by Imagine Dragons. Excited for your first giveaway!!
