Workout

Wednesday- 4 miles + abs

My workouts after a rest day are usually pretty awesome. Unfortunately, yesterday’s was not. My stomach hasn’t been feeling well and I really hope this isn’t the flu=( Of course I don’t regret the workout, I went nice and slow and listened to 300 Violin Orchestra by Jorge Quintero on repeat. That song makes me feel like I’m an Olympic runner, so go ahead, listen to it.

PS My house gets so hot in the morning, I may need to start using the fan. . .

We played kick ball with a bunch of people from the neighborhood the other night. Actually we watched them all play.

People were sliding and getting cuts and bruises! Good thing we just watched from the side lines and played with the cutest pup around.

And then dad stopped by after his bike ride. J is completely a daddy’s boy. It makes me happy that they have such a sweet relationship. I better have a girl next so she can be a mommy’s girl. That’s how it works right?

Random Note: I’m completely out of groceries. I meant to go 2 days ago but life got busy. Now the house is quite bare. What kind of snacks, recipes, go to meals have you been loving lately?? I’m bored with my usual grocery haul, help me out!

About Sugar Plum Runner

Welcome to the Sugar Plum Runner! I grew up in WA state, but currently reside in UT with my husband Josh, son Jackson, and 2 daughters Lily and Claire. I love running, but I have never been so inspired to run, race, and blog about it since 4 years ago after I had Jackson. I grew up playing soccer and cheered in high school. My favorite part of both sports(and yes I consider cheer leading a sport) was the conditioning. I found myself running after practice was over on my own. That's when I realized that running may be the sport I really loved.

  1. I’ve been OBSESSED with wraps lately. And basically anything that can be put on the grill. I procrastinate grocery shopping all the time, but I always feel so much better when it’s done!

  2. Happy birthday to your mom! You guys look so alike!

I have been 100% about hummus and carrot sticks lately because it’s getting a little warm to cook in my 3rd floor apartment. Fast, easy, and COLD 🙂

Hope your not getting sick!! And happy birthday to your pretty momma! Ah I love kick ball!

Happy birthday to your mama bear! Cute picture! I’m sorry you’re not feeling well but am listening to that song as I reply and am thrilled about it! I LOVE music like this and you’re right, I feel like a total Olympian. 🙂 Yes. Winning all day errrryday! Kickball is so hard, be grateful you guys hung out and watched. That ball is much harder to thrown than I remember from childhood. I get the same shenanigans grocery shopping – salad, salad toppings, sweet potatoes, Brussels sprouts (for roasting) squash, and all the fresh fruit I can afford. My man made some delightful spaghetti squash last night, maybe give that a try? Good luck, grocery shopping (pushing the carts) is the worst thing ever for me. Ha! THIS SONG IS ROCKING!!!!!!!!!

happy birthday to your mama! and i love kickball, although the only time i’ve ever played is in gym class in grade school and it was fairly tame. that’s great your neighbors get out and play, though. ditto the carrots & hummus love. i dunno what it is but i can not get enough lately!

    • I love carrots and hummus. I bought a wasabi hummus and it’s just okay. So I haven’t bought anything new, but I just need to and realize I’m prob not going to finish the other carton lol I loved kickball in grade school!

  6. Happy birthday to your mama!! you guys look so much alike 🙂 And lol i know- kickball can get so brutal!! You’re right that song is amazing, i want to go for a run right now! and life always tends to get in the way of me getting to the grocery store too. I try to keep yogurts, berries, melon, turkey and protein bars on hand, those seem to be my go-tos.

    Kickball is so much fun!
I need to start getting more creative with my meals too…I think it’ll happen when I am done with work for the summer 🙂

  8. I love kickball! Happy birthday to your Mom! A gal’s best friend 🙂

I feel like I’m always out of groceries these days. I’m a big fan of quinoa. You can add almost anything to it and it lasts a while too!

  9. As I sit inside looking out at the rain (as per usual in Holland), I’ve gotta say – your weather looks fantastic!! (I know, who really posts about the weather but I had to :P).

  10. Hi, new reader here! Kickball sounds like so much fun, I haven’t played that since middle school? Elementary school? Uh, is it wrong that chocolate milk has been my go to snack? That and Chobani. And chocolate. Rawr.

  11. I love Sabra’s Greek Olive hummus! I’ve been eating it with everything… chips, veggies, as a sandwich spread, everything! I also bought this Skinny Pop popcorn from Sam’s club and am addicted. The only ingredients are popcorn kernels, sunflower oil (I think), and salt. It’s really, really good. I’ve also been loving Bolthouse Farms yogurt dressings…no scary ingredients and really tasty!

  12. Happy Birthday to your mama! I have been doing a lot of shopping at Trader Joe’s lately…lots of spinach salads keeping me full for lunch. I also love bananas and snacking on nuts.

  13. Grocery store problem happens to me all the time. I usually go every sunday evening, but if for some reason I’m busy and I miss it, I can NEVER find time to go during the week so I end up waiting until the next Sunday and spend the whole week eating the weirdest lunches like plain rice and some peanut butter and broccoli.

My favorite go-to’s as of late are a half an english muffin with a scrambled egg on top for breakfast, and then I can’t stop munching on apples and peanut butter! SO yum!
