A good end to a good day

Monday- 8 miles, 9:22 pace + abs

I was really looking forward to running with my running partner from heaven this morning, but when we both woke up to a down pour and clouds outside our window my head hit my pillow. So sad, but I was determined to get a good run in. I hit the treadmill and so glad I did.

I also did something I’ve never done before. For the first 4 miles I wore my new Brook Pure Flow 2’s and for the second 4 miles I wore my new Nike Lunarglide 4’s. I’m not planning on keeping both, and the store I bought them from gives you 30 days to try them out. I’m still totally torn, but I hope to have a good review for you when I get more miles in.

Did I mention the Nike's are purple, my fav color?

J had some friends over and we watched a movie and ate some popcorn. He gets so excited when friends are over he squeals with excitement and constantly yells their names.

For family night we headed to the library and then ended up at the park. So glad the day ended warmer than it started=)

How was your Monday?

Ever been torn between 2 totally different shoes?

About Sugar Plum Runner

Welcome to the Sugar Plum Runner! I grew up in WA state, but currently reside in UT with my husband Josh, son Jackson, and 2 daughters Lily and Claire. I love running, but I have never been so inspired to run, race, and blog about it since 4 years ago after I had Jackson. I grew up playing soccer and cheered in high school. My favorite part of both sports(and yes I consider cheer leading a sport) was the conditioning. I found myself running after practice was over on my own. That's when I realized that running may be the sport I really loved.

  1. I love that picture of Jackson and his friends! I love how the kid on the right looks like he’s trying to make a peace sign to the camera hahah oh kids!

It’s really nice that your running store has that policy! That’s the smart thing to do, for sure. I’m sure as you wear both more you’ll develop a favorite. Or else you’ll just be stuck with two new pairs of shoes! πŸ˜‰

  2. My running store has that policy too! It’s really a good policy to have, in my opinion, because running shoes are so important and something that might have fit/worked for you at the store might not work for you in the long run!

My Monday was good. I did a run in the morning and then did a treadmill run before my first weight lifting class! My arms felt like noodles…and they’re sore today, but I’m going back tomorrow!

Gah he is so cute I can’t even stand it!!!

  4. I am just going to put it out there, brooks are a way better quality shoe for the distance you will be doing daily. Especially the pure line which is a great line.

    • I was hoping you would chime in. The only thing with the Brooks is I’ve been having some hip pain with them. Is it possible the lady who did my analysis on the treadmill was wrong about me being a neutral runner?

      • Well the thing is they are minimal shoes so you can’t do a lot of distance on them quickly. You need to train into minimal shoes. it is probably just too big of a toe to heel drop for you to start off with. I would switch off between real sneakers and then go to minimal for part of it before your gait finds a better balance with them. Hope that makes sense…

      • Ya that makes total sense. I was trying to do that(yesterday I only ran 4 out of the 8 miles I ran in them). But maybe I just need to do even less miles for awhile. Thanks for the advice=)

J is so so so freaking adorable!!! Glad you got in a good run still, in spite of the rain! Girlfriend, teach me your ways of long treadmill runs. I can’t manage more than a half hour right now! Ahhh! 😦 I have two pairs of running shoes, one for long distance and one for sprinting and cross training. And, what’s worse, I am constantly craving new shoes (like the Brooks you have, or something similar), or Mizunos, or anything, really. So yes, I’m always torn between every running shoe out there!! Ah!

  6. Awesome job on the 8 miles! Running with friends just makes the miles tick by a little more quickly!

  7. You have the cutest family! I love reading your posts! πŸ™‚

  8. I just found your blog and just love it! Your little J-man is so precious with his buddies πŸ™‚ And great job on the 8 miles. I am about to give up my asics gels that I’ve completely worn out and I’ve really liked them, but I want to be able to go and try some new shoes as well, so please share your reviews and which shoes you pick πŸ™‚

Yikes! It’s already Wednesday! What if I tell you about today?
Today was good! I had a really yummy Wildflower Bread Co. breakfast sandwich, a good meeting, productive afternoon, a nap and I sewed a button on my son’s shorts (that’s worth mentioning because I usually forget to do it).
Glad you had such a nice day!! Jackson is ADORABLE.
