Oakley Cabin Adventures

Saturday evening we got to the cabin and started making dinner right away. My MIL BBQ’d some chicken and salmon, so good! She also brought fresh sushi, we are so classy. I even tried my first ‘real’ sushi that had eel in it. Verdict: It was very tasty!

The weather couldn’t have been more perfect. We took J on an ATV ride and he loved it. Much better than last time when he screamed in fear. I also took some pics of the scenery we were surrounded by, it was just so gorgeous. I was sad I didn’t think to bring my running shoes to run Saturday evening to enjoy the sights, but then again there was a bear warning! (seriously, it kinda freaked me out)

J played in the dirt, with the puppies, and his cousin. A bath was in order. I tried to get a cute pic, but they were too excited to be splashing around in the bath.

After J and his cousins went to bed, we busted out the s’mores. We made them over the stove, it was perfect. I love weekends at the cabin and I love the moments spent with family.

Before we left early Sunday morning for church, J in front of the flag. Very appropriate for this Memorial Day weekend.

Hope you guys are all enjoying your day off today! I’m running a Run for Remembrance 10k, anyone else racing?

What’s your favorite BBQ food?

Are you a s’mores fan? Yes, and I love extra chocolate on mine=)

About Sugar Plum Runner

Welcome to the Sugar Plum Runner! I grew up in WA state, but currently reside in UT with my husband Josh, son Jackson, and 2 daughters Lily and Claire. I love running, but I have never been so inspired to run, race, and blog about it since 4 years ago after I had Jackson. I grew up playing soccer and cheered in high school. My favorite part of both sports(and yes I consider cheer leading a sport) was the conditioning. I found myself running after practice was over on my own. That's when I realized that running may be the sport I really loved.

  1. Is it possible to not be a s’mores fan!?!? Mmmm sooo good! Looks like a great weekend! There was no long weekend here but nonetheless it was still a good one :). You and your son look so much alike!

  2. smores are exactly what I think of when I think of summer. I though really only like the marshmallows and they have to be burnt!

  3. LOVE smores…Good luck on the run!

  5. OOooo s’mores!! It has been forever since I have eaten any. I need to pick up some vegan marshmallows and get to roasting!

  6. Erin says:

I love smores, but with dark chocolate..yum!!

  7. They aren’t healthy in any way, but I do love a good hot dog. YUM. I’m a s’mores fan but I don’t eat them nearly enough! That will have to change this summer.

  8. It looks like you had a great time with your family. I love tubby pics! 🙂

  9. I have been craving sushi and am so jealous!! I’m also hoping to have a bonfire soon, but I’m more of a plain roasted marshmallow fan than I am of the entire smore.
