Water Fountain, socks, and my little sister

Workout

Monday- 5 miles, 4.5-8:37 pace, .5 mile cool down with Heather

Sheesh, I could barely hold conversation on my run yesterday with Heather. I politely let her talk most of the time while I tried to keep up. Honestly, my body felt fine, but I could tell I was pushing it. I love that the trail we ran on has a water fountain. Perfect pick me up.

photo(566) photo(565)Since you’ve seen plenty of pics of her and I we decided to do fishy faces for you. You’re welcome. And no, I’m not cross eyed…or maybe I am?

My little sister came down to UT from Idaho for her baby shower this week and we had a sleep over the last couple of nights. I painted her toes for her and then we headed to the pool. She took some pics of me and J. He’s all about the arm floaties(borrowed) and jumping in the pool. I have a lil dare devil on my hands.

I can’t believe my little sister is pregnant! It’s been so fun to have her hang out with me and J.

Random question: I never wore running socks until my husband got me these socks from Costco about a year ago. I love how breathable they are and cheap! 6 pairs for about $16! So…

What kind of running socks do you wear?

If you’re going to snack while you watch TV what’s your favorite snack?

About Sugar Plum Runner

Welcome to the Sugar Plum Runner! I grew up in WA state, but currently reside in UT with my husband Josh, son Jackson, and 2 daughters Lily and Claire. I love running, but I have never been so inspired to run, race, and blog about it since 4 years ago after I had Jackson. I grew up playing soccer and cheered in high school. My favorite part of both sports(and yes I consider cheer leading a sport) was the conditioning. I found myself running after practice was over on my own. That's when I realized that running may be the sport I really loved.

  1. I usually wear regular socks, but I do have a pair of Livestrong running socks from Sportchek that are great.

  2. Sometimes I like to snack on leftovers while watching TV. Like occasionally a slice of pizza. But I also like the standard popcorn and also fruit with nut butter or cookie butter. Have fun with your little sister 🙂

  3. I don’t know what brand of socks I use..but they all came in a pack. For the most part, they don’t cause me too many blisters!

I like veggie chips, pretzels/dip, or Skinny Pop Popcorn. Yum!

P.S. I e-mailed you because I haven’t gotten my ProCompression socks yet from your giveaway!

Unfortunately my evening snacking is always unhealthy sweets..whoops! And I wear under armor socks for running!

I usually wear adidas socks when I run, but I have a really nice pair of asics that I wear for races/long runs. I’ve also been wearing compression socks on any run over 10 miles.

I have really bad blisters so I always invest in socks! I work at a running store so the discount helps as well 🙂 But I run in Features or Balega with the extra cushion! I love popcorn when I am in a snacking mood!

  7. I bought some socks from Old Navy a year or so ago, and I love them. I don’t know that they are specifically for running but they are from their active wear line. They’re really breathable, and the perfect weight. I feel like I should be a spokesperson for ON! the truth is aside from their active wear I’m not really crazy about their other clothes.

I’m not picky when it comes to snacks. Potatoes chips are great. Popcorn is good. Cookies are wonderful. Pirate Booty is incredible. I could go on for days!

    • I love ON active wear and all their regular clothes lol Not all of them are great, but I love finding a good t-shirt or dress that’s more casual.
I’m not picky either, I love all kinds of snacks and they are usually unhealthy lol

My favorite pair of running socks are nike brand, they don’t have much for cusion but they also don’t give me any blisters. Unfortunately I can’t seem to find a new pair so I’m on the hunt. The tricky part is, for race day I like socks that come up a little higher on the ankle so I don’t have to worry about them rubbing and creating blisters on the back of my heel!

That course looks gorgeous! And heck yes, that’s an awesome pace! Whenever I’m on a route with a water fountain, I thank the heavens above for it being there. I am working on getting some sort of runner’s water bottle holder so I can take water with me.
I use special socks when I run with lots of padding where it’s needed! 🙂 I’m a brat and they cost $15 per pair. I only had 1 until a few weeks ago when they were on sale and I stocked up! Have a beautiful day!

    • Ya it’s really nice to depend on the water fountain, but I also have been trying to bring my waters with me. I use the Nathan Hydration belt that holds 2 10oz water bottles and a pouch for gu’s, tissue, or keys. I think it’s on sale on amazon right now!
$15 per pair?? Oh man! But if they work then it’s all worth it. I’ve never used cushion socks and now i’m curious!

  10. I LOVE running socks!! I have a pair of PRO Compression that I like, but I’m not completely sold on yet but I LOVE my asics running socks. They are perfect. I love your little dare devil!

Nice job on your pace! Your killing it on your weekly mileage! I will have to check out the Costco socks. I love anything that has to do with Costco. I always want to eat popcorn or ice cream while I watch T.V. What is the next race you are doing??

    • Thanks! I love Costco too haha I’m a sucker for a good deal.
Popcorn is one of my fav snacks lately, especially kettle corn. I love the really buttery kind too though ha
I’m doing a 5k on Saturday with my sisters, but I don’t have another half or full on the calendar yet. Are you running one? I’d love to do the Big Cottonwood Canyon race or the Drop 13 half June 15th. I just don’t know if my schedule will workout yet. My husband will be gone the 15th=(

  12. I love Feetures socks because they help prevent blisters and are so breathable!

  13. I luv the ProCompression socks!!! Have you tried the low trainers?…I also really like the Champion sport socks from Target

  14. I won’t wear anything but my experia drymax, I LOVE how comfy and cushy they are!

  15. I used to wear regular socks to work out until my best friend who is an athlete made fun of me for it. I didn’t realize there were separate things haha! I wear Nike plain socks, you can buy them in bulk at their stores or outlets for decently cheap which is always nice.

Lately my favorite snack is a bowl of Cheerios. There’s just something about Cheerios that makes me so happy.

    • I wore regular socks too, no worries! And some people don’t need any special socks, and some people are more prone to blisters. I say wear whatever makes your feet feel good=)
Mmm I love cheerios! those used to be my fav growing up!

I wear regular socks a lot but have a few running pairs that I always grab for longer distances. My favorite snacks are chips and salsa or cucumber slices by the tv. Or ice cream 😉
