Party food is very important


Tuesday- 3 miles, 8:39 pace on treadmill + abs and arms

Short workout, but I was able to push myself on pace since I wanted to get done faster. I’m trying really hard to just get comfortable with the uncomfortable feeling. I remember when a 10 min mile was pushing my pace and now that’s a relaxed pace for me. Always working towards something. . .

My sister Bree and I headed up to my sister Leah’s house nice and early so we could help get ready for the baby shower. I got to hold her new baby most of the day…that’s my kind of ‘helping.’


We spent the day preparing the food. Because let’s be real, people come to showers for the food. Our friend Emily makes the cutest cakes and made Bree a train cake.


J took a nap while we ate slaved away. I measure a great nap by the hair J wakes up with. I’d say it was a fantastic nap.


The rest of the spread and the mommy to be with our gorgeous cousin.

Everyone was so generous and I can’t wait for my sister’s baby to come! J can’t either. He’s obsessed with babies and we let him hold my sister Leah’s baby. He’s saying, “baaabbyy”

I love running, but I have never been so inspired to run, race, and blog about it since 4 years ago after I had Jackson. I grew up playing soccer and cheered in high school. My favorite part of both sports(and yes I consider cheer leading a sport) was the conditioning. I found myself running after practice was over on my own.   1. So jealous of all of the baby loving you’re getting all of the time!! My favorite party foods are dips and cakes 😀

    I’m working on getting stronger so that I can get faster. I’m doing much faster when I push on the treadmill, but when I run outside in the heat and humidity, my pace is actually 2 mins slower. Ugh! Gotta push myself outdoors, too!

  4. I really like dips at parties. They’re super easy to make, and are usually a big hit! There are so many babies in your life!!

    I’m working towards building strength in my legs, and my cardio fitness so that I can start running again! Should be up and going in a week or so! And BTW thank you for all your kind words during my injury/recovery!! You’re the sweetest!

    • I love dips too! My sister’s salsa is amazing!
      I know, this year was really crazy with babies, it’s been so fun.
      Yay! I can’t believe you’l be running in a week! You’ve been so patient and doing everything right. Can’t wait to see all your progress this summer=)

    OMG J’s toes in that last picture, way too cute for words. How old is he?? Good job on pushing the pace on the treadmill. I really send so many kudos your way because the treadmill is freaking HARD!! 🙂 I remember when 10 minutes was hard for me too, I love that I have just gotten faster as time has gone on. 🙂 What a cute baby shower!   10. My son – totally luvs babies too – always wants to hold his little cousin – and he thinks that they are sooo cute – ya – he’s 4.

  13. J looks so excited to be sitting with the baby! He looks so proud!
    You have no idea how much that first paragraph inspired me. My running story started last March and I probably ran 11 – 12 minute miles. Now I run consistently at a 9:30 – 10:15 pace. It is SUCH a relief to me to hear that one day I might run at an 8:– pace regularly. Now it just happens for a mile on occasion. Thank you! I needed that!
