Judges Run 5k Recap

Saturday- Judges Run 5k with family and friends

My husband was contacted by the director of the Judges Run to DJ the event. All the race proceeds go to the Anne Stirba Cancer Foundation(the directors wife, Anne Stirba, passed away from breast cancer) so Josh said he’d love to DJ the event for exchange of a couple of race bibs for me and some friends.

I invited my MIL Lee Ann, 2 SIL’s Alisha and Whitney, my friend Vanessa, and my sister Neeley. My MIL and SIL’s walked the race together pushing a stroller, and Vanessa, Neeley, and I ran it.

My sister has been running awhile now, but this was her first race. She did so awesome and ran a lot faster than her training on the treadmill, I am so proud of her! It’s moments like yesterday that make me so grateful for running. I loved watching my friends and family push themselves to new limits.

The course was beautiful, but through a lot of woods and uneven surfaces. The course was pretty hilly too, the finish was even at the top of a hill!

Vanessa ended up cruising on and finishing ahead of us and doing great. Neeley and I were able to run the whole race step by step next to each other. It was so fun to run with my sister and I hope she wants to run with me again!

After the race their was a pancake, doughnut, bagel breakfast for all the participants and their families. It was delicious and the music was great too;)

I would definitely recommend this race for whoever is local(it was held in Sugar House). The shirts are so cute!

Tell me about your races, runs, or workouts this weekend

Anyone have a yummy breakfast post workout?

Have you ever got to run with family or friends? Did you like it?

About Sugar Plum Runner

Welcome to the Sugar Plum Runner! I grew up in WA state, but currently reside in UT with my husband Josh, son Jackson, and 2 daughters Lily and Claire. I love running, but I have never been so inspired to run, race, and blog about it since 4 years ago after I had Jackson. I grew up playing soccer and cheered in high school. My favorite part of both sports(and yes I consider cheer leading a sport) was the conditioning. I found myself running after practice was over on my own. That's when I realized that running may be the sport I really loved.

I went trail running with a friend- but we ended up having to walk probably half of it because it was so muddy and slick! So fun though! Glad you had a great race with your fam (:

What a great way to spend time with family and to get a free bib! Looks like a beautiful course. Yesterday morning, my boyfriend and I went running. Because he is trying to get into running, we made it fun for him: we parked at the top of a big hill so he could run 3 miles down. I ran 3 miles down, then 3 miles back up to the car to drive down and pick him up! Fair?! No, but fun!

  3. That’s awesome! I would love to run a race with someone in my family, I really think that would be the best. Congrats to you all!

  4. Looks fantastic!! I have only run one race with anyone other than my husband and I LOVED it!! So much fun πŸ™‚

My family (the 4 of us) will be “running” a 5K together on our anniversary. I’m so excited for that family time. It looks like you definitely enjoyed it!
