I got up nice and early yesterday before I headed off to Girls Camp for my church and just enjoyed being outside. My quads were pretty sore from soccer so I took it nice and slow.
Let’s Talk Abs
The sweet Natalie asked me about some of the ab workouts I do. I often just post that I did some kind of ab/arm workout. So today, I’m going to share with you some of my favorite ab workouts. I get most of them from the Nike Training Club app.
As you all know, I love running. I have found that working ab routines into my weekly schedule has helped my running immensely. I found this great article by Olympic runner Lolo Jones that gives more great ab moves and benefits your abs give to running.
1. My all time favorite move is the side plank crunches. It’s working your side abs, your legs, and your arms. I always feel it the next day. *The smaller the movement the more you feel it!
2. Planks are great for a full body workout. Works your core, arms and legs.
3. Lower back workouts are just as important as ab workouts. I remember learning in my health classes that working out opposing muscles has great benefits. (For example, if you’re going to work out your biceps, workout your triceps too.) So, the opposing muscle for abs is your lower back. Superman’s are a great move for the lower back.
5. The last move I’ll share is one that is simple, but I’m always counting down the seconds until I’m done. V-Ups, always let me know I’ve had a good workout if the next day or even later in the day I can feel my abs getting sore.
Enjoy your ab workouts=)
