Family Reunion, girls camp, and running update

I’m back from Girls Camp, thanks for all your sweet comments on my last post. I’m trying to play catch up on all your blogs, it’s a bit overwhelming when you’ve been away from the internet for a full week=)

Let’s see, we left off last Tuesday on workouts. . . I didn’t run at all while I was away at camp. I wanted to give myself sometime to rest.

Saturday- 4 miles with Heather on the trail

It was slow and a bit of a shock since I hadn’t run in awhile.


Monday- 4 miles on the treadmill + 10 min core crunches video from NTC app + stretching

1st mile- 10 min, 2nd mile-9:30, 3rd mile- 9:22, 4th mile cool down at 9:30

It was a slower progression run, but I wasn’t in any pain. Since my last post on my knee pain I haven’t had many more problems. It’s doesn’t hurt while I run, it hurts more when I’m cramped in a car and can’t stretch my legs out. It’s weird, so we’ll see if the foam rolling and stretching continues to help.


I got back Friday morning from girls camp. I don’t think girls camp could’ve gone any better. It was such a fun week and the I think the girls had a blast too. I was ready to be home, I missed my boys and that night we kept it chill. We ate some really yummy Thai food, and then I did some cleaning up/laundry.

Saturday after my run Josh’s family had a family reunion at a water park called Cherry Hill. It was a lot of fun! My sister and her son even stopped by since she lives so close. J was so glad to have a cousin to play with in the water=)

After we met up with more family and ate at Zuppas. I had a delicious Thai chicken sandwhich with a tortilla soup. I must be on a Thai kick, but they both tasted really delicious and a bit spicy.


Sunday was the usual church/chill/hang out with family kind of day=)

Monday we ran errands and J went to his first Birthday party that wasn’t family. It was a at a pool so he was very happy. He loved the cupcakes!

Welcome to the Sugar Plum Runner! I grew up in WA state, but currently reside in UT with my husband Josh, son Jackson, and 2 daughters Lily and Claire. I love running, but I have never been so inspired to run, race, and blog about it since 4 years ago after I had Jackson. I grew up playing soccer and cheered in high school. My favorite part of both sports(and yes I consider cheer leading a sport) was the conditioning. I found myself running after practice was over on my own. That's when I realized that running may be the sport I really loved.

  1. J’s Sunday bowtie kills me, he looks so darn cute! Girls camp sounds awesome if it included zip lining! I’ve done a lot if yoga classes and a couple gym workouts with short treadmill runs.

Zip lining was something I did once so I can say I did it, but dang, super scary… 🙂 I am THRILLED to read that you are not in any pain, and hey, I thought about you last night as I was on the treadmill and wondered how you do it all the time! IT’S SO HARD! So that pace, regardless of whether you think it’s slow or not, is phenomenal – especially after so much time off! Yay for J and water park and cousin time! Awesome!

  4. I had a really great hill workout on Thursday. I’m thinking this week I’m going to take it easy because I just don’t feel into running/working out this week. I’m still going to do it, but I’m not going to push it. I’m hoping to get a lot of runs in in Costa Rica the next couple of weeks!

  5. I took a new killer kickboxing class on Saturday that I might incorporate in my weekly workouts (It’s a Monday, Wednesday, Saturday class) but it was so nice to take a group class again. That’s about all that’s new with me 🙂

  7. Girls camp looks like a great time! I am loving thai food right now too!! I had some last week after yoga…couldn’t resist because my favorite place is so close to the studio. Glad to hear your knee is doing better!

    Glad you got a good break from blogging/running. It’s nice to relax and then restart. J is freaking precious. I can’t stand it! We just joined a gym, so I’m focusing on a lot of strength training right now. This morning I did back and biceps – curl variations, lawn mowers, lat pulldowns, etc. And I tried a forearm workout for the first time. It was weird. Have a good day! Glad you’re back 🙂

    I haven’t had a workout AT ALL in eight days, so I’ll be getting back into the swing of things tomorrow, and I’m sure will have a very slow and hard run, but I’m excited to be starting up again. I also LOVED your post on ab work, I was late getting to see it because I was knocked out on pain pills feeling pretty crummy, but thanks for posting it!
