It happened, I ran and survived!

Monday- 2 miles on treadmill, 8 min abs, lots of stretching. . .like so much.

Indoor soccer game: tied 7:7

I ran. It felt so good to run again. I went super slow and didn’t try anything crazy just ran.

After running I felt a little sore near my knee, but nothing horrible.

Tuesday- Rest

Yesterday I felt really great. My leg didn’t ache at all. I definitely think all the stretching helped. It felt so good on Monday night to sprint in my soccer game but I was worried I would be sore Tue. I’m so glad to report that I felt pretty good, yay!

Monday Jackson and I headed to the Hogle Zoo with family. It was a hot day, but we had a lot of fun. He was so mesmerized by the carousel.

Since a lot of kids in UT have already started school it wasn’t too busy, that’s always a plus! We got to get right up and see the animals. J screamed when the polar bear came up to the glass, normal reaction really. I would scream and run to if I thought a bear was coming at me haha

Tuesday I scrubbed my house top to bottom all morning long. It always feels so good to have a clean house, I love the smell of a clean house too;)

That afternoon I headed to the Dr. for Jackson’s 2 year check up. He was horrible. He was terrified of the nurse, the dr, everyone. I think he remembered as soon as we walked in what goes on there. Poor kid.

His stats:

50% for weight-28.4(I weighed him at home and it said 30lbs)

50% height- 34 in

I’m not sure how accurate that info is because it was a frantic five minutes of kicking and screaming, but I’ll take it.

Do you kick and scream at the Dr. office?

who else is starting out small (again) with running like me? How’s it going?

About Sugar Plum Runner

Welcome to the Sugar Plum Runner! I grew up in WA state, but currently reside in UT with my husband Josh, son Jackson, and 2 daughters Lily and Claire. I love running, but I have never been so inspired to run, race, and blog about it since 4 years ago after I had Jackson. I grew up playing soccer and cheered in high school. My favorite part of both sports(and yes I consider cheer leading a sport) was the conditioning. I found myself running after practice was over on my own. That's when I realized that running may be the sport I really loved.

  1. Yay for surviving your first run back!! You’ll be back in no time, especially if you’re stretching as much as you say 🙂
Poor Jackson… I don’t remember if I was a kicker and screamer at the doctor’s but I can definitely understand that. It’s scary in there!

Poor thing!! ugh I hate taking Levi to the Dr. Almost every visit I cancel at least once bc I chicken out- I just feel so bad!! I swear I am more scared than him haha! Can’t wait to take Levi to the zoo!

Glad you had a good first run back! I never minded the doctor but HATE the dentist.

  4. Yay for starting small, but poor baby! I also hated the dr when I was little. My mom taught my brother to say “its okay” during any shots or while giving blood, its pretty sweet how he repeats it to her during anything that is going on.

  5. Aww poor guy! The doctor’s office is never fun for anybody haha ;). Great job on your run! 2 miles is GREAT!

  6. YAY for your run girl! I know how stinking excited you were! GOOD for you for lots of stretching!!!! And yay for no school crowds! Jackson is just too cute, even if he is kicking and screaming about the doctor… 🙂 Cutie!

  7. Yay…for running! good job. I love a good zoo
