A double date with my lil man

Yesterday was another rest day for me. Seeing how my leg isn’t feeling any better, I’m hoping if I give myself a few extra rest days a week I’ll see some improvements.

My SIL Whitney made a ‘summer wish list’ at the beginning of summer and it hangs on her refrigerator. The other day while I was over there I was reading all the fun things she hoped to do. It got me thinking and one thing I wanted and hadn’t gotten to do was taking J on a ‘date’. He and I are together all day everyday, but I wanted to choose a day and just do things I know he’d love.

We spent extra time in the morning cuddling and watching Ninja Turtles and then got ready and headed to the park. We met my friend Katie and her sweet girls there too. I’m so glad they decided to join us for a fun day! We packed lunches and enjoyed the sun before heading to The Sweet Tooth Fairy.

The Sweet Tooth Fairy is a mainly a cupcake bakery, but they have all kinds of yummy treats. It’s also where Josh and I got our wedding cake from. J had his eye on a colorful sucker that he wanted, so that’s what he got. I stuck with my first loves, chocolate and peanut butter.

The Sweet Tooth Fairy was also on ‘Cupcake Wars’ the TLC show and won! Katie had their winning cupcake(creme brule<spelling?) but said it wasn’t as good as the Reese’s I got.

I love spending time with J and taking time to make a certain day special or out of the ordinary. As we were driving home and he’s in the back seat with sucker juice all down him, he looks at me in the rear view mirror and says, “Bank(thank) you mommy for sucker.” He’s such a sweet guy and made quite a good date if you ask me=)

I hope to always have a close relationship with J. I was reminded yesterday with my sister that I need to cherish these moments and relish in the time that I have with just him at this age. I feel like such a lucky mom. I’m so grateful that Josh works hard so that I can stay home with him.

We ended the day at Grandma’s house playing in the pool with all our clothes on. Oh and picking all their peaches and taking one bite before throwing it to the ground;)

About Sugar Plum Runner

Welcome to the Sugar Plum Runner! I grew up in WA state, but currently reside in UT with my husband Josh, son Jackson, and 2 daughters Lily and Claire. I love running, but I have never been so inspired to run, race, and blog about it since 4 years ago after I had Jackson. I grew up playing soccer and cheered in high school. My favorite part of both sports(and yes I consider cheer leading a sport) was the conditioning. I found myself running after practice was over on my own. That's when I realized that running may be the sport I really loved.

  1. Favorite cupcake is probably red velvet! Pictures of J still get me every single time! He’s such a cutie!!

  2. Katie says:

Thank you Mommy for the sucker?!?! How sweet!!

  3. i love carrot cake cupcakes! well… carrot cake anything 😉 hehe that cream cheese icing gets me every time!

  4. That’s great that you were able to go on a date with him! He’s seems like such a sweet boy and he probably gets that from you! I once made strawberry cupcakes with a strawberry mascarpone filling and they were the best thing ever.

  5. Caitlyn says:

aw! that date is so sweet. you are a great mommy!

  6. Obviously the Reese’s cupcake is going to be the BEST one!! 😉

  7. jumpeatrun says:

SO cute!! I love the idea of you and J having a mommy/son date.
Take care of that leg – still no running for me AT ALL 😦

  8. Recently the boys and I went to Cafe Rio for dinner and then to Cultured for frozen yogurt dessert. It was like a date with them and I loved it. They still love their mama, want hugs, say ‘I love you,’ and look to be tucked into bed. They are 12 and soon-to-be 14. I am still waiting for that to change and I am so thankful it hasn’t!!!
