Wknd Highlights and a RUN!

I have a lot to catch you up on, but first, let me apologize from being so absent lately. After the long weekend I caught a horrible flu. Luckily, I had my snuggle buddy that was so sweet to me all day. He was even okay just sitting next to me in bed watching Ninja Turtles over and over=) Of course, there was the occasional wrestle.


Let’s get to it!

1. Having a date night with my man. Second highlight, we both got free drinks, our waiter was awesome!

2. Having a handy husband. We’ve been wanting to put crown molding up in our bathrooms for awhile, and he decided to do it himself, staining and all. Alisha somehow got roped into helping us too;)

3. This is more of a low light, but J chipped his tooth=(Β  He was scooting off of a chair and didn’t quite reach the ground which made himΒ  fall into the table with his mouth. He doesn’t seem to be bothered by it and the dentist said it wasn’t too bad.

4. Wearing the skirt I found at The Loft for only $20!

6. Going up to the Cabin for Labor day.

photo(24) photo(23) photo(21)7. Last, but certainly not least, I went on a run with my SIL’s up at the cabin! We did 3 miles and it felt amazing! My leg is still a bit sore, but I just make sure to do my stretches and strength training. I also am taking more rest days and going to ease into running. So HAPPY!

Welcome to the Sugar Plum Runner! I grew up in WA state, but currently reside in UT with my husband Josh, son Jackson, and 2 daughters Lily and Claire. I love running, but I have never been so inspired to run, race, and blog about it since 4 years ago after I had Jackson. I grew up playing soccer and cheered in high school. My favorite part of both sports(and yes I consider cheer leading a sport) was the conditioning. I found myself running after practice was over on my own. That's when I realized that running may be the sport I really loved.

  2. Hope you’re feeling better! I like to stretch right after otherwise I don’t end up doing as much stretching as I should. If I’m hungry and didn’t eat much late in the previous day I will have something small. If I wake up and I’m not hungry and I know I was eating late into the night before then I skip it.

  3. Glad you are feeling better and out running :). I never eat before a morning run…in fact it takes me a few hours to get hungry after.

  4. Running!!!! YAY! I always try and stretch right after, but I’ll do foam rolling whenever. I should probably do it right after, too, to make sure those muscles don’t get crampy. I do not eat before an early morning run. If it’s a long run, I’ll have a tablespoon of peanut butter at the most.

    If I’m running before 7am, no breakfast. After 7am, definitely something small like a banana. Love the cabin pics! Looks like a gorgeous spot πŸ™‚

  8. Ugh… The flu is no fun! I had it twice this past year 😦 Joys of kiddos who bring home germs I guess!
    Yay for getting in a run with your SIL! If I workout super early (5:00am), I don’t typically eat. However, most days I workout around 9:00 and always eat breakfast before working out. Usually something with lots of protein and healthy fats πŸ™‚

    I don’t eat before any runs I do. I know it’s a bad habit, but I just can’t do it. I get so nervous before races that even if I do eat, it certainly leaves my body before I start to run.

      I used to not eat either, but I’ve been eating half a banana and a big glass of water even if it makes me gag haha You are rocking your workouts though, so whatever you’re doing keep it up!

    I’m also glad to hear that you had a successful run and that you’re taking it really easy on yourself. I think that “Not pushing” is the best advice.

    Hooray for handy hubbies! Chris is also SUPER handy and also weirdly likes doing things like that around the house. Why do guys have this innate attraction to tools? ha!
