Workout

Thursday- 3 miles speed work on treadmill

I slept in again, seriously, if I don’t plan on having a running buddy I usually sleep past my alarm. Boo. Any who, I had time for 3 miles so I tested out a bit of speed work. I ran 1 mile warm up then  3×800’s and then jogged a recovery 800 in between(that means I ran 2 laps on the treadmill at a faster pace, then ran 2 laps at a slower pace repeated 3 times). My leg feels great! I’m so glad I can start incorporating some speed into my workouts.

Friday Favorites

1. Just expect some kind of picture like this until the end of winter. I LOVE the mountains in UT  during the fall/winter. I love the colors in this picture and then the low clouds. The picture doesn’t even do it justice/I’m a horrible photographer.

2. J had a really fun play date yesterday. I love that they’re are so many kids his age in our area. M’s mom Mary might be mad at me, but M found the clippers the other night and totally buzzed the side of his head(you can see it in the second pic)! It is too funny and now I know I’m going to have karma and J is going to do something equally mischievous.

3. Fall recipes. When Josh and I got married 3.5 years ago, I didn’t know how to cook anything but grilled cheese and Top of Ramen. No joke, I made it over and over until I was brave enough to try chicken and rice. Then we had that over and over. Luckily, I have gotten much braver and I’m proud to say I tried 3 new recipes this week! I already shared with you the 3 cheese skillet lasagna, and now I’m sharing the recipe to Broccoli Cheddar Soup from Not Without Salt blog(click on image to enlarge recipe). I made Rhodes Rolls and used my homemade jam. It was so good and perfect for the cold day we had.

About Sugar Plum Runner

Welcome to the Sugar Plum Runner! I grew up in WA state, but currently reside in UT with my husband Josh, son Jackson, and 2 daughters Lily and Claire. I love running, but I have never been so inspired to run, race, and blog about it since 4 years ago after I had Jackson. I grew up playing soccer and cheered in high school. My favorite part of both sports(and yes I consider cheer leading a sport) was the conditioning. I found myself running after practice was over on my own. That's when I realized that running may be the sport I really loved.

  1. I’m going to a bachelorette party this weekend. We’re going to a shooting range (?), I’ve never shot a gun before so I’m both nervous and excited about the experience. I’m happy to hear your leg is feeling better!! Have a great weekend!

Yay for your speed work! And girl, keep those pictures coming! It kinda makes me think about Seattle because of the mountains! GA has none of those (well they do, but not where I live). And hey now, if you have homemade jam, you’re better off than I am! What flavor? Blackberry and raspberry are my favorites if you ever feel like shipping me some………….. I’d love you forever, Have a great weekend!

  3. That picture of the kid who shaved his head is just too funny! Little boys are so hilarious. Have a great weekend!

  4. Glad you are back to your speedy self! I am getting there 🙂

  5. I’m always surprised when women don’t know how to cook. Not because of a stereotype or anything, but because my mom LOVES to cook and she always involved us. But, I know everyone’s mother is different and not every child wants to learn to cook, so good for you for branching out! I’d like to think that my future hubby is going to be a well-fed man 🙂 This weekend, I’m working, beaching it, and going to a new-to-me aquarium on the west coast of FL! Excited 😀
