Crazy purple lady and my favorite winter staple

Workout

Saturday- 8 miles, 9:30 avg pace + lower body workout and stretching

I almost didn’t run yesterday and I’m so glad that I did. I was so tempted to stay in my warm bed and cuddle with the hubs and J. Luckily, I got my lazy self up and out into the cold. I was the crazy purple lady. I love purple, but I think it’s time I stop buying everything in purple…

I felt great most of the run until about mile 7 when I got so hungry. I had water with me and ate half a banana and peanut butter before I left, but I guess I should’ve brought something for an energy boost. Either way I’m so glad my legs feel good and that I was able to run comfortably under a 10 min mile. I have about a month until the Haunted Half and I’m feeling good. Oh and I got to pass Josh and I’s dream house. I LOVE this style.

After, I did my leg/tooshie workout. I love doing that on my long run days since my legs are already tired, and Sunday is always my rest day so I have a day of rest after. I did each exercise 3 times with an 8lb weight.

Nothing is better than coming home from a cold run to hot cocoa. I love when you take a sip and you can feel it go throughout your stomach and it instantly warms you up. (please forgive my man hands and admire my fall nail polish instead)

20130928-102710.jpgwhich brings me to my next random thought. I know most of you love your coffee makers, but come winter I’m in love with my cocoa motion. That’s right, there’s such a thing and I’m addicted. You can keep it on all day and it will keep it at the perfect temperature and mix it for you. Yummy cocoa ready at all times of the day? Yes, please.

20130928-102237.jpgAfter I cleaned my stinky self up, we took J to feed the ducks. There’s a pond close by and it’s always swarmed with ducks. J loved it and the ducks were ready to carry him and the bread off. Seriously, they flocked to us the minute we got out of the car.

I had a church meeting last night, after I had a dance party with the boys. I’ve mentioned Josh is a DJ, so we got serious and busted out some lights. J was in heaven.

Favorite cocoa flavor?

what do you bring to snack on for long runs? Candy, gels, powerade?

About Sugar Plum Runner

Welcome to the Sugar Plum Runner! I grew up in WA state, but currently reside in UT with my husband Josh, son Jackson, and 2 daughters Lily and Claire. I love running, but I have never been so inspired to run, race, and blog about it since 4 years ago after I had Jackson. I grew up playing soccer and cheered in high school. My favorite part of both sports(and yes I consider cheer leading a sport) was the conditioning. I found myself running after practice was over on my own. That's when I realized that running may be the sport I really loved.

When I was marathon training I used honey and raisins. I might try out some if the more organic/natural gels next time because the thought of sucking down straight honey again doesn’t appeal to me anymore. It was cheap and easy though. I love dance parties!

  2. That house is totally gorgeous! I would love to live in a house like that some day :).

Love that leg and booty workout! And that house ❤ If you get it, I'm moving in 😉

I actually use dried fruit during a long run… my favorite is dried mango.

  5. I’m the same way with purple, I don’t think I could ever have enough. I’m happy to see you’re increasing your mileage and your legs are still feeling good!! I thought about doing a zombie run this year but I don’t know how I would feel to be chased by a zombie. I think that I would accidentally hit someone if they were sneaking up on me. As much as I love hot chocolate I think I prefer apple cider, but both taste like fall.

  6. Loving the party lights! Nice job on the run!

  7. I”ve been so MIA and I’m finally catching up on your blog, and I was skimming through for a second and I thought that was a picture of YOUR house! I almost freaked out! Lol i was about to fly out and use your house for my next vacation spot!

Also – totally agree about hot cocoa, I’m not a coffee person, so I depend on YUMMY cocoa and hot tea to warm me when it gets cold.

Nice job on the 8 miles! No pain right?? I bet that felt great. I LOVE coming home and having hot chocolate as well. Although mine is topped with way too much whipped cream or marshmallows. Oh and I LOL about your man hands comment even though you couldn’t be further from the truth!
