Caramel apples and spicy soup

Yesterday was a rest day for me. I’m hoping while you’re reading this I got my lazy self out of bed for a couple miles outside or on my treadmill before little man wakes up.

Instead I spent the day baking and cooking some delicious finds. First, I made these caramel apple with my friend Emily for some women in our neighborhood.

They turned out great after I made some test ones the night before. . .

They look good, but the caramel was as hard as rocks. No one wants shattered teeth =)

Oh, and Emily made this wreath for me, isn’t it so cute? I wish I was crafty, fortunately for me, I have friends that are!

Next I made this Spicy Pumpkin Soup from a recipe my neighbor gave me. It’s healthy, easy and so delicious. Unfortunately, instead of putting 1 or 2 chiles in I put 1 can of chiles in. It was the spiciest soup I have ever tasted. Luckily my friend Elizabeth likes spicy so I brought it over there.

20131017-201008.jpgLater on we headed to TJ Maxx of course. Josh needed new jeans and I of course found something I had to have. I also saw these head bands with a ‘no slip grip’ on them for $5! I know I’ve already ranted about this, but Lulu had the for $15!

Have a great weekend!

any good finds lately?

How’s running/training going?

About Sugar Plum Runner

Welcome to the Sugar Plum Runner! I grew up in WA state, but currently reside in UT with my husband Josh, son Jackson, and 2 daughters Lily and Claire. I love running, but I have never been so inspired to run, race, and blog about it since 4 years ago after I had Jackson. I grew up playing soccer and cheered in high school. My favorite part of both sports(and yes I consider cheer leading a sport) was the conditioning. I found myself running after practice was over on my own. That's when I realized that running may be the sport I really loved.

  3. Those caramel apples…YUMMMM!!!

  4. Can your friend be crafty and make a wreath for me? That’s so cute! I have a spicy pumpkin soup I have been wanting to make but the last time I went to the grocery store they were all out of pumpkin! Absurd. Maybe I’ll get lucky this weekend.

Those caramel apples look awesome – Joe and I got one at the pumkin patch a couple weeks ago.

I need some good headbands. I have some that stay on for the most part but I still have wild hair. I need to try a thicker one like the one you bought.

  7. I have a great running headband and it makes all the difference. Great find!! I love a good deal. I ran 4 miles today, woohoo!

  8. That soup sounds so freaking good. It’s just starting to get cold in Atlanta and I’m all about warm foods during winter. I’m a bad crafter, too….wish I had your friend!
