Catch up from the week, and a not so great run

Wednesday- 1 mile walk on treadmill

Thursday- rest

Friday- 5 miles on treadmill(more on this at the end of the post)

I’ve been gone from the blog world for a couple of days, so let’s play catch up!

I took J to a new library in Murray with some of our friends. They do a story/singing time and he really enjoyed it. The lady who was in charge was so energetic, it made me wanna dance around with scarves too;)

We’ve had a couple of friends come over to play. I love watching this age interact with each other, their conversations are hilarious!

mac n cheese for the win!

We went to the park and ate lunch. Last week was snowing and this week it’s in the 60’s. No complaints here.

I’m back on the green smoothie band wagon. I’m trying really hard to eat better these days. I just keep finding Halloween candy, or I keep buying it, definitely one or the other. . .

here’s what’s in this smoothie:

Josh and I got a couples massage. Josh found a great Groupon for a couples massage from Utah Valley Massage Therapy. We both agree it was the best thing ever. We pretty much looked something like this, we’re so glamorous. . . not. They rubbed oils in my hair, I looked like a witch caught in a wind storm.

20131108-194603.jpgI got to watch and cheer on the girls from church at their volleyball tournament. They had so much fun and played great.

20131108-194030.jpgAnd finally, last night we went out to dinner with Josh’s cousin and his wife. Then we came back to our house and let the kids play all night. Seriously, they played till 10:30 without much of an argument. Such a great night!

20131108-224833.jpgAlright well now that we’re all caught up, can I say that all runs are not created equal? I’ve been slacking, like a lot lately. I had been craving a good workout so yesterday morning I was determined to run 5 miles. Well, it was hard, painful, and pretty craptastic(yes it’s a word). Just taking a couple weeks off, or running shorter slower runs makes it hard to move my legs fast or at all. Just like the green smoothies are back in my life, so are harder workouts. I need to recommit myself today.

Hopefully while your reading this I’m out running with my neighbor. I knew if I wanted another great workout I needed to get a buddy. =)

Thanks for letting me rant, have a great weekend!

Ever had a run that hurt your running ego?

What do you tell yourself to keep yourself training hard?

About Sugar Plum Runner

Welcome to the Sugar Plum Runner! I grew up in WA state, but currently reside in UT with my husband Josh, son Jackson, and 2 daughters Lily and Claire. I love running, but I have never been so inspired to run, race, and blog about it since 4 years ago after I had Jackson. I grew up playing soccer and cheered in high school. My favorite part of both sports(and yes I consider cheer leading a sport) was the conditioning. I found myself running after practice was over on my own. That's when I realized that running may be the sport I really loved.

I’ve had a few ego hurting runs lately. Luckily they usually don’t last long and just make the good runs better 🙂

  2. I love that you and your husband found a Groupon for a couples massage. Ryan and I got one on our honeymoon and it was amazing! I need to be on the lookout for a groupon so we can get another one! And I’m sorry your runs haven’t been the best. It is great though that you are determined to make your workouts better! You can do it!

I have runs that hurt my running ego all the time. Especially when I first moved from sea level to the Colorado Mountains. The altitude destroyed me. I think having those runs are good sometimes, though, because they re focus you to get your butt back out there!

  4. There’s nothing like running with a friend to get you to power through all the crappiness of getting back into it – I hope it’s a better run for you today

My summer was filled with ego busting runs! 🙂 I keep telling myself that you will appreciate this run because during a race you might feel like this and the hard run will make you strong during your race!
