Treadmill Tuesday: Tone it Up, Shredded workout

As soon as I was cleared to workout after having baby J I found Tone it Up. And because I love reminiscing over my lil guy. . .

Okay, back to the workouts that helped me get back into shape. . .they have free workouts that are short or long and specific for whatever you want to work on(back, abs, legs, etc.). When J was taking a nap I would pull one up on my lap top and do it anywhere in the house.

I found this workout and remember it totally wore me out in a good way. I did it again yesterday and it was just as good as I remembered because you can amp up the speed to make it more difficult.*I didn’t do the leg workout, just the treadmill one* So, I thought I’d share it with you all, enjoy!

  • 3 Minute Brisk Walk
  • 3 Minutes Jog
  • 60 Second ‘Sprint’- as fast as you can
  • 60 Second Jog
  • 60 Second ‘Sprint’ ~ just as fast as you can run- this speed can vary

~ Chill for 20-30 seconds, breathe, take a couple sips of water (take as much time as you think you need to calm your breathing.)

30 second plank

5 minute cool down walk

Here’s me and my chin planking to prove I did it, I hate planking ha

20131202-170006.jpgJ sat nicely coloring while I ran. I love that whatever I’m doing he wants to be right there by me. He’ll even yell, “run fast mom, do it!” He’s a bit demanding. . .

20131202-170019.jpgAfter my workout we headed to Walgreens to pick up our Christmas cards. I don’t know why, but doing Christmas cards makes me feel like such an adult ha I’ll share them with you as soon as I send them out to family=)

I’ve been struggling to find some new Christmas traditions for our little family. I really want to help J realize what Christmas is really about but still do the fun activities too.

Last night we made a nutcracker together as a family. J named him Circus and kissed him goodnight.

Then we watched The Santa Claus. It was a fun night, but I need some more ideas.

20131202-201228.jpgwhat traditions did/do you have?

How did you explain Christmas to a 2 year old?

Let me know if you try the treadmill workout!

About Sugar Plum Runner

Welcome to the Sugar Plum Runner! I grew up in WA state, but currently reside in UT with my husband Josh, son Jackson, and 2 daughters Lily and Claire. I love running, but I have never been so inspired to run, race, and blog about it since 4 years ago after I had Jackson. I grew up playing soccer and cheered in high school. My favorite part of both sports(and yes I consider cheer leading a sport) was the conditioning. I found myself running after practice was over on my own. That's when I realized that running may be the sport I really loved.

  1. That picture of J with his nutcracker is really cute! Christmas is all about giving… I think it might be possible to fund a child’s Christmas gifts and explain to J why you are doing it…. but what do I know?! I have zero kids!!!

  2. Awesome workout! A lot of times, I will walk laterally and backwards on incline on the treadmill to mix up my routine! I will have to try this, too. Thanks for sharing it 🙂

Wow that is a great workout! Growing up we also made a countdown to Christmas using Hershey Kisses and ribbon. I LOVED doing this growing up and still do it with my family!

  4. Those workouts are killer, love the fast and effective treadmill ones.

I am actually teaching about Christmas this afternoon to my first graders! It’s part of our world religion unit so really goes into the history of how it began and why it’s celebrated.
that looks like an awesome run! and, you looked AMAZING 2 weeks after giving birth!!!

  6. What a good little cheerleader!! When I was in high school we used to do this hill workout in a neighborhood near our school and there was a little girl that was always out playing in the yard. She would yell at us so loudly it was hilarious! Little kids really know how to cheer!

Also, I don’t have any experience with the Elf on the Shelf but it seems like a really cute tradition!

  7. J is so stinkin’ cute, I love it. I think his leg made an appearance in your chin planking photo 😉 I hate planking too.

  8. You were so cute as a preggo lady! And of course you are cute now 🙂
