Christmas shopping with a toddler

Tuesday- 3 miles on treadmill .5-1% incline + NTC Leg workout

20131217-140633.jpgI started feeling pretty gross on Monday, sore throat and body aches so I chilled most of the night. Josh was awesome and wrestled with J (literally wrestled, it’s J’s favorite) for an hour! Luckily, yesterday morning I felt great!

After my run, I did this leg workout. Last week I could only handle 1 set, this time I finished the whole 15 min workout. Those jump squats are killer.

20131217-140608.jpgI had to run a bunch of errands again and J was such a trooper! This is what I pack to get us through 3 hours of shopping.

We went to 6 stores and we didn’t have any meltdowns. I give him a snack once we get to a new store, and I bought him a little light up light saber because he was awesome all day! We also got some yummy crab dip at Costco, I love their samples.

20131217-140138.jpgOh, and this fresh, real, wreath for only $7!

20131217-140016.jpgAfter dinner I drove some of the girls from my church group around while they did a scavenger hunt with other groups. It was fun, and they got to pick up canned goods for those that don’t have a Christmas dinner during the scavenger hunt. One house gave a huge frozen turkey! All the food filled the dinner table, it was so amazing.

20131217-215930.jpg 20131217-215944.jpgThe night ended with delicious cocoa and whipped cream, and unpictured doughnuts=)

And I gotta leave you with this because he’s just too cute, J wanted to take a pic with a toy in his mouth. He thought he was so funny=)

what’s your secret to staying healthy during the Winter?

About Sugar Plum Runner

Welcome to the Sugar Plum Runner! I grew up in WA state, but currently reside in UT with my husband Josh, son Jackson, and 2 daughters Lily and Claire. I love running, but I have never been so inspired to run, race, and blog about it since 4 years ago after I had Jackson. I grew up playing soccer and cheered in high school. My favorite part of both sports(and yes I consider cheer leading a sport) was the conditioning. I found myself running after practice was over on my own. That's when I realized that running may be the sport I really loved.

Great job on the workout! It made my heart smile when I read about your food drive, so great for this time of year! Staying healthy during the winter means lots of fruit and veggies on my plate!

  3. Runner Girl Eats says:

I need to go buy whipped cream right now. That looks incredible.

  4. Yum! I was at a costco on Saturday, but I didn’t see crab dip 😦 I’ll have to keep my eyes pealed!

  5. Glad you’re feeling better! I like to use the Nike Training Club app, too. Found a deal on 3 pairs of Puma socks for running at Marshall’s for $4!

  6. What a great deal on that wreath! I have been looking for a wreath that is reasonably priced. I’m hoping I can find one the day after Christmas! 🙂 I try to be healthy during the holidays by enjoying everything in moderation and by making sure I still do my workouts!

  7. You know I love that NTC app! I did some abs and arms after my run yesterday…favorite move on there for abs is full extensions with weights!
Glad you are feeling better too! To ward off sickness I just try to take my vitamins and wash my hands a lot. Like OCD a lot esp this time of year lol

Shopping with a toddler does not sound easy! haha.
I definitely eat a lot more (and more sweets) during the holidays, but i just try to balance it with some amped up workouts. Plus, Joe and I do a TON of snowboarding in the winter which is a great workout!

  9. That leaner leg workout is such a killer! Jump squats are rough and to do them for a minute – phew!

  10. Caitlyn says:

J’s favorite thing is wrestling…such a boy! i can’t imagine shopping with a toddler. i can barely handle myself while out shopping. haha. hope you are feeling better!

  11. Sleep, vitamins and taking it easy when I can. It’s rough getting sick, especially in the winter and around the holidays! Glad you’re feeling better!!
