Gingerbread houses and a tempo run

Workout

Saturday- 5 miles on treadmill

It snowed all day Saturday so I stayed inside and decided to do a tempo run.

Here’s what it looked like:

1 mile warmup @ 5.7 mph

.5 mile faster pace @ 7 mph

5 mile cool down @ 6mph

repeat bold exercises 4 times

There’s nothing like feeling tired and thirsty after a hard workout.

20131221-143819.jpgThe rest of my workout was shoveling the driveway. It was a family party. Right after Josh finished(he did the majority of it) it started snowing again ha

20131221-143845.jpgI got to go to my good friend Vanessa’s baby shower. She’s due anytime with a boy! She had delicious popcorn(ready to pop) and egg nog. I can’t wait to hold a newborn soon=)

20131221-183834.jpgLater that night I had my sis and her family come over for some gingerbread house decorating. Let’s just say, I was really horrible at it…

20131221-212052.jpgI don’t even know what that Rolo thing in the front is, but I tried. J had a blast! Josh had made him a really nice house, and this is what J did to it.

20131221-211941.jpgIt was a fun night and we ended it watching some episodes of the first season of New Girl, so funny!

what’s your favorite gingerbread house candy to eat?

About Sugar Plum Runner

Welcome to the Sugar Plum Runner! I grew up in WA state, but currently reside in UT with my husband Josh, son Jackson, and 2 daughters Lily and Claire. I love running, but I have never been so inspired to run, race, and blog about it since 4 years ago after I had Jackson. I grew up playing soccer and cheered in high school. My favorite part of both sports(and yes I consider cheer leading a sport) was the conditioning. I found myself running after practice was over on my own. That's when I realized that running may be the sport I really loved.

  1. New Girl is hilarious! My husband and I record all of the episodes.

  2. I LOVE NEW GIRL! oh my gosh, it’s so hilarious. I AM the character Jess. Every time she does things, I look at Bam Bam and say “I would do that.” He totally knows. Favorite workout this week was Turbo Kick! I tried it with my friend and I LOVED it! It was like a mix of Zumba and Kick boxing. SO FUN! I was so so so sore the next day.

  3. Love New Girl! So funny! We really are meant to be friends! Umm. with your tempo run, was that a .5 mile cool down or a 5 mile cool down? 😉 I read that and had to do a double take when I saw the repeat 4x. haha! You’re a beast!! I’m not so great at the gingerbread houses either. Oh well. They are fun to eat. Have a great Sabbath!

I love the tempo run workout you posted. I’ve been getting kind of bored with the same old tempos that I’ve been doing on the ‘mill and am going to have to try this one. Thanks so much for posting it! Do you mind if I share it on my blog once I do it? I’ll be sure to give you credit, and link to your blog. 🙂

  5. Ahh, the only thing I don’t miss about living in New England is having to shovel the snow. I love decorating gingerbread houses – using graham crackers is the best way to do it! 🙂
