New Years and a new tradition

Wednesday- 3. 29 miles + core workout

Yesterday’s run was not great, I just wasn’t feeling it. My breathing was hard and my legs felt heavy.  I’m looking forward to my run today because with every bad run  a good run usually follows.  I was still happy to be outside since Josh had yesterday off. I also wore my new socks my sister Leah got me for Christmas. They kept my feet so warm.

20140101-210045.jpg 20140101-210032.jpgWe all got ready for the day and I started dinner preparations. I wanted to make a roast dinner to celebrate New Years and I had a new dutch oven I got from my MIL to try out. While getting ready I found earrings I hadn’t worn in forever! Perks of cleaning out our bathroom closet=)

I invited Josh’s parents over to enjoy dinner with us, and after they left the boys and I had a little devotional that I prepared to introduce the family theme(< link to where I got the idea from). We got little poppers with crowns inside.

I’m excited to have a theme as a family and to start little traditions.

What have you done differently since moving out on your own?

Anyone have an awesome or horrible run they wanna tell me about?

About Sugar Plum Runner

Welcome to the Sugar Plum Runner! I grew up in WA state, but currently reside in UT with my husband Josh, son Jackson, and 2 daughters Lily and Claire. I love running, but I have never been so inspired to run, race, and blog about it since 4 years ago after I had Jackson. I grew up playing soccer and cheered in high school. My favorite part of both sports(and yes I consider cheer leading a sport) was the conditioning. I found myself running after practice was over on my own. That's when I realized that running may be the sport I really loved.

I like that perspective about bad runs, that a good one always follows. I once had a miserable long run because I somehow thought it was a good idea to eat chipotle beforehand. Let’s just say I truly regretted that decision for the last 2.5 miles of that run.

  2. can I just say your hair is beautiful? however you get those curls to stay is amazing.

i agree with alex. your curls are awesome. love that quote!

  4. I love that scarf you are wearing in the picture showing your earrings. Ryan and I started our first tradition this Christmas to do the 12 dates of Christmas. It is fun going out on your own and starting your own traditions. Don’t worry about your run; we all have bad ones. I’m hoping to get in nine miles today!

  5. You are so pretty!

What I’ve done differently since I’ve moved out is I started cooking more, eating differently than my family (including that whole vegetarian thing 😉 ), and juts picking up after myself more haha.I haven’t been able to run the last couple days because of a snow storm….and the roads are bad so I don’t have access to a treadmill. Here’s hoping that you have a great run and that I can get out for a run again soon!! Happy New Year!

  6. Girl, I don’t know how you’re running outside right now. I went on Saturday and this air is just sooo awful! I can hardly breathe and then I feel gross all day. Maybe your neighborhood is a little above it. Anyway, props to you!

  7. I adore that quote! Happy New Year!!

  8. I love when I clean stuff out and find stuff I forgot about! It feels brand new to me. 🙂

    Happy New Year, Sharsti!

Around the holidays we will do a 12 days of togetherness but I think 2014 is the year to start our own traditions!

  10. I had a really GREAT run yesterday!!! It was my longerst run ever (14 miles), and I had a 13.1 PR (like a 25min PR) – I was pretty proud of myself!

  11. Oh, I had a run like this the other day and then my run today was perfect! Funny how that is! I always forget that you have a sister named Leah.. I do too!! 🙂
    Happy New Year gorgeous face!
