Workout
Tuesday- 5 miles on treadmill + shoulder workout
I was in a running funk for about a week and yesterday I finally decided to snap out of it. Here are my tips to starting back up after being in a funk.
1. Tell yourself to just run 1 mile. Once you’re out there or on the treadmill, you’ll want to do more. If not, one is better than none!
2. Try something new. I decided to watch TV instead of listen to music.
3. Break up the run by doing a circuit workout in between each mile. Since I hadn’t run in about a week, I knew it would be harder to just jump on the treadmill and run 5 miles. Instead I ran 2 miles, did 1 set of shoulder workouts, 2 more miles then 1 set of shoulder workouts, then ended with 1 more mile and 1 more shoulder workout.
Afterward, I felt great! I love knowing that after a funk there is always an awesome come back!
Later that morning I got to visit my friend Vanessa and her new baby boy. I’m so sad I forgot a pic, he is so precious! It made me remember when J was just little. I still get snuggles from him when he wakes up from his nap. One of the best moments of my day=)
What’s one thing you love about Wednesdays?
favorite ice cream flavor?
I’m craving cookie dough!
Great tips! I am in the middle of a semi funk…I have no desire to run our short training runs but am easily motivated for our long run. Luckily our half marathon is next weekend so after that I will be able to relax a little bit and focus on the runs I want π I do so much better when I can run for fun rather than following a training plan.
I strongly believe in the saying you’ll just run 1 mile method, tricks me into doing my whole run every time. Favorite ice-cream: Edy’s French Silk, it’s so good!!
Great run! I like the breaking up the runs with weights in between. Next time I am in a funk I am going to try doing this!
Best thing about my Wednesday is I get to stop for Starbucks coffee on my way to work! Special midweek treat!
I love just plain vanilla with some whipped cream on top!
I think that when we need a break our body will let us know, but boy does going back to it just make you feel amazing!! glad you had such a great run back at it.
Those are such great tips! You really do almost always feel like doing more than one mile once you get out there and just do it. Snuggles from my Rylnn are still my favorite too π
My favorite flavor changes, but I am always a mint chocolate chip girl at heart!
hmmm I’ve always been a mint girl. But I also really like cake batter type ice creams/frozen yogurts. So sweet that you still get some snuggles π
I’m so glad you are out of your funk sweets! I love cookie dough with my fro yo. π
Way to get back on the treadmill and get out of your running funk. That shoulder workout looks awesome! I might do the same one today. π My favorite ice cream flavor is definitely vanilla!
If it is just ice cream I go towards:
Mint Chocolate Chip, Cookie Dough, or something with chocolate and peanut butter. Can I have a scoop of each please? π
mmm, I’m glad that I have ice cream in the freezer right now or I’d have to go to the store on my way home! I love chocolate but also Ben & Jerry’s Oatmeal cookie chunk! A scoop of each with some TV before bed and I’m a happy girl!
Good job kicking that funk! That shoulder routine looks brutal.
It’s hard somedays to get motivated isn’t it!:) Great tips
Sometimes I “bribe” myself into a run….I’m a cookies ‘n cream fan….I can never pass it up
