My favorite refuel after a run


Wednesday- 4.13 miles with Heather outside

It was so windy out, I think the wind carried me and Heather most of the way ha It felt really good to be outside though so wind or not, it was great!

20140212-183350.jpgOne of my favorite things to drink right after a run is chocolate milk. Yesterday I drank a BIG glass, sooo good! I remember when I first started running I read about all the benefits of chocolate milk.

I also remember when I was training for my first half marathon with my SIL Whitney we ran our 10 miler in Zion’s National Park. During the last couple of miles of our run I was going on and on about how I brought chocolate milk for us to drink as soon as we were done. I never explained to her why I brought chocolate milk. . . needless to say, she thought I was crazy haha

After drinking my chocolate milk I found J tried on my gloves and ear warmer and ran around the kitchens yelling, “running, running!”

20140212-183322.jpgI’m still packing and organizing over here, sorry so boring. Today we had to clean out under our deck. We had a bunch of firewood. I even asked on FB if anyone wanted it, I guess a free jogging stroller is more appealing. . .


Bree found some use out of it, she made a cute fake fire for her cub scouts=)

Welcome to the Sugar Plum Runner! I grew up in WA state, but currently reside in UT with my husband Josh, son Jackson, and 2 daughters Lily and Claire. I love running, but I have never been so inspired to run, race, and blog about it since 4 years ago after I had Jackson. I grew up playing soccer and cheered in high school. My favorite part of both sports(and yes I consider cheer leading a sport) was the conditioning. I found myself running after practice was over on my own. That's when I realized that running may be the sport I really loved.

    I also absolutely LOVE to have chocolate milk – it’s the easiest! Either that or my piña colada protein shake with cottage cheese (way tastier than it sounds!).

    mhhmmm chocolate milk, I love it when researchers scientifically inform me that chocolate products are good for me. I usually like a smoothie as a refuel, in particular anything with banana and peanut butter in it is awesome.

    I love chocolate milk as well, I typically don’t like food after a run and drinking is much more appealing! We have a fireplace but use it for candles not a fire haha. Good luck with your packing!

  4. Chocolate milk is also my favorite post-run fuel. I remember how excited I was to learn that it’s great to drink after workouts 🙂
    That’s so cute that J put your running gear on and was running around in it! I hope he and your nephew feel better soon!

    I love chocolate milk (soy) after a run! I drink it a lot at night to satisfy the sweet tooth as well 🙂
    We do have a fireplace, but it’s gas, so turns on with just the flick of a switch – haha

  7. I used to drink choco milk a lot but now I drink a lot of coconut water. Not sure why but I crave it after just about every spin class and/or run. Chocolate milk is a great mix of carbs and protein though so it’s perfect for recovery!!

    Oo I want to run in Zion national park! Sadly no fireplace, I wish. I love smoothies with protein and coconut milk right after I work out, then definitely a real meal a little bit later.
