When life throws a wrench in your plans

Wednesday- 3.5 miles on treadmill + 10 min ab workout

Happy first day of Spring!!!

It always feels good to hit ‘reset’ after a couple of days off from working out. I cranked my music up loud and just zoned out. I have a bit of a head cold, so it wasn’t pretty, but I love cooling off outside with a little sunshine beaming down on me.

I like to keep my blog pretty upbeat, so I usually don’t talk a lot about things that are sad or crappy. Today, I need to just vent a little ha Remember when I posted about painting my cabinets? I mentioned that if you get more paint from Home Depot not in the kit it will be a little off. Well, come to find out, the gentleman helping me that particular day gave me the wrong paint(they gave me a full refund on the paint)! The more I painted with it around my house and after I installed the cabinets I realized just how off it was because the preexisting railings, crown molding, and other white things were the true Pure White.

The crown molding is the true Pure White and the cabinets are the ‘off’ Pure White.

So, after my workout I repainted my stair railings, and ‘stepped back’ from the cabinets per my mother’s request. Good advice, I was too frustrated to do a good job ha

It’s not a huge deal I know, but it sure felt like a punch to the stomach=( Good thing the rest of my day was great. My sister Leah came over and her son brought all his super hero costumes. If you know J you know he loves to dress up.

I also got to watch my friends handsome lil guy. J really wanted a picture with him, baby D wasn’t thrilled, maybe because J has a death grip around his neck? I promise no children were harmed in these photos.

The best part of my day? Getting to eat my mom’s cooking again! Delicious chicken, cabbage soup.

About Sugar Plum Runner

Welcome to the Sugar Plum Runner! I grew up in WA state, but currently reside in UT with my husband Josh, son Jackson, and 2 daughters Lily and Claire. I love running, but I have never been so inspired to run, race, and blog about it since 4 years ago after I had Jackson. I grew up playing soccer and cheered in high school. My favorite part of both sports(and yes I consider cheer leading a sport) was the conditioning. I found myself running after practice was over on my own. That's when I realized that running may be the sport I really loved.

ahhh, that’ so frustrating with the paint! I wouldn’t normally think of myself as a cabbage fan but my mom really likes it so it’s kind of grown on me.

I like to keep my blog upbeat too, which isn’t super hard since I don’t post much anymore! 🙂 But yeah girl, I hear ya – when things get too complicated you HAVE to be told to step back and take some time away from whatever you’re doing. Glad your mama gave you that advice! Your house is really looking beautifuL!!

  3. Gosh don’t you just love mamas?! I am so glad she is there to help you out.

I’m so sorry about the white! I like to try to be upbeat too, but sometimes it’s better to get your frustrations out! That’s so great that your mom was there to make you a delicious meal though. It’s so funny…I try to make food the way my mom does but it tastes so much better when she does it.

  5. That is such a bummer! I’ve had my fair share of bad news and actually posted about how I handle it today on my blog. Think positive! Could be worse right!?!

  6. Ugh man what a bummer! I usually talk to my mom and boyfriend when I get bad news. Mom’s are always good at making us take a step back.
