How to have the best treadmill run

Workout

Monday – 6 miles on treadmill

I woke up yesterday and wanted to do a longer run because I may not have time Saturday morning. I wasn’t feeling it on my treadmill so I knew I had to do something…here’s what I did and it worked.

1. Get your favorite workout outfit on that makes you feel awesome. Mine happens to be pretty ugly, but it’s the most comfortable and I was at home, so who cares ha

2. Have water and anything else you need to survive on the treadmill. In my case I need music and a towel because I get really hot inside.

2.5. Use said towel to cover the treadmill so you don’t stare and count down each step=)

3. Music. Make a great playlist. Some of the songs that helped me to have the best treadmill run were(don’t judge me)

  • Turned down for what-DJ Snake & lil Jon
  • John Doe-B.o.B and Priscilla(the chorus gets me every time)
  • Not a bad thing-JT
  • Red lights-Tiesto

I ended up having the best run. Like goosebumps and some serious runners high. It also may have been because I ran another 5k in 25 minutes, my app wasn’t wrong after all. Here’s what it looked like:

2 miles warm up at 10 min miles(6mph)

3 miles tempo, 2 @ 8:34(7mph), 1  @ 8:00(7.5mph) = 5k in 25 min!

1 mile cool down at

It was hard, don’t get me wrong, but I felt good. Now I just need to hold that pace for 13.1 miles=)

The rest of the day was a blur…just kidding, I’m not that dramatic, well maybe. Anyways, we ran errands, my sis Bree came over before she leaves me to go on vacation and I made a green smoothie for us. (Bree ran on the treadmill too, she is kicking booty getting back into shape after having her baby). I got the recipe from my sweet friend Karina, it was delicious!

J has been asking us to go to the movie theater for awhile, and there was a buy one get one movie ticket so we went to Rio 2. Ha, I just love seeing this boy so excited.

About Sugar Plum Runner

Welcome to the Sugar Plum Runner! I grew up in WA state, but currently reside in UT with my husband Josh, son Jackson, and 2 daughters Lily and Claire. I love running, but I have never been so inspired to run, race, and blog about it since 4 years ago after I had Jackson. I grew up playing soccer and cheered in high school. My favorite part of both sports(and yes I consider cheer leading a sport) was the conditioning. I found myself running after practice was over on my own. That's when I realized that running may be the sport I really loved.

great run, doing your 5k pr for a second time in the middle of a 6 miler is no joke! I can’t wait to hear how it goes when you run a half 🙂

I usually have great runs on the treadmill but last night it was mentally hard. Only 4k done, my body was fine and could have run forever but my head was not in the game.

  3. I love JT’s new song, too! I haven’t had a really great run in a long time since I’ve been hurt 😦 But it had to have been my last 10k before I had to rest. I can’t even remember the last movie that I saw…that’s sad.

  4. Great job on the run! I have not had a run like that in a few weeks, I am hoping for one soon! The last movie I saw in theaters was Frozen haha.

OMG I love runs like that! Where you’re just dancing along in life because your run was so good! 🙂 I HEAR YA GIRL! DUH! 🙂
That turn down for what song is legit what I play toward the end of runs to give me extra excitement. I think running makes us all guilt of needing ridiculous poppy and fun music. I am not ashamed! 🙂

  6. Your day sounds great! I can’t wait to check out that recipe. I haven’t been to the movies in forever, but I really want to go and see Divergent! Way to go on an awesome 6 mile run! Do you have a half coming up?

Hehe I needed to read this today (it’s treadmill speed workout day!) And we are shoe twins now! 🙂
Last Saturday’s race definitely gave me goosebumps in the best way! Start to finish it was awesome!

  8. Look at you speedy girl! So proud of you!!!

  9. Awesome run girl! I ran about 3.5 miles yesterday and had an 8:59 average pace. I’m coming back! Felt so good.
Cute J! And you can barely see Josh so it’s perfect 😉 have a great day!

  10. I haven’t seen a movie in the theater in such a long time I can’t even remember what it was. But I really REALLY want to see the new Captain America movie – maybe the hubby and I will go this weekend!
