Run of Remembrance v.2

Monday- Run of Remembrance 10k

Yesterday morning I got ready and met my sister Bree, my mom, Heather, and her husband at the Run of Remembrance race. They put it on every year, and it’s FREE! It’s such a fun tradition and yesterday was no exception.  My mom and Bree ran the 5k and did awesome(my mom hurt her back the night before and wasn’t even sure she’d be able to walk it, but she ran/walked it)! Kevin, Heather and I ran the 10k. Heather and I took it easy since we were still pretty sore from Saturday’s downhill run. It felt good to get my legs moving and stretching.

Heather and I finished in 56 min. Pretty good after a hard run on Saturday, so I’ll take it!

The rest of the day I spent making my homemade potato salad, cleaning, laundry, and of course shopping! I love going and getting all the killer deals on Memorial day.

Then we headed to Josh’s parents house for a BBQ. It was such a nice day and it was so fun to chat, eat, and just enjoy the time spent with family.

And of course, I ended the day with some ice cream to make it the best day ha

I couldn’t be more grateful for all the freedoms I’m blessed with because of all those that sacrifice their life and time to keep me and my family safe. My Grandpa is a Marine, and my brother is in the National Guard. I’m honored to call them family=)

what race are you currently training for?

Favorite BBQ item?

Do you or someone you know serve our country?

About Sugar Plum Runner

Welcome to the Sugar Plum Runner! I grew up in WA state, but currently reside in UT with my husband Josh, son Jackson, and 2 daughters Lily and Claire. I love running, but I have never been so inspired to run, race, and blog about it since 4 years ago after I had Jackson. I grew up playing soccer and cheered in high school. My favorite part of both sports(and yes I consider cheer leading a sport) was the conditioning. I found myself running after practice was over on my own. That's when I realized that running may be the sport I really loved.

That sounds like such a great race, I love that your family is so active! You sure know how to end the day right 😉

  2. Great job on the race!! I don’t know how I would feel about running through a cemetery though, it might freak me out a little :/
I have a brother in law that was in the Marines.
No races planned so far. I am currently helping a friend start up running and am planning to pace her in her first 5k in July. I am super excited about that!

  3. Great job on the race!! I am kinda training for a full right now, but I am not sure haha. I know a few people who have served our country and super thankful!

  4. How fun that they put on that race!! You did great!

  5. Congrats on a great race! I ran a 5 miler on Sunday and my next race is a 10K in two weeks – but my big race on the calendar is my first half marathon in July! I can’t wait!

My favorite BBQ item is a burger with lots of toppings – particularly BBQ sauce and avocado!
