The best cure for a hot summer day

Since I’ve been cutting back on my running and just giving myself a break I have felt a lot more relaxed. Don’t get me wrong, I love training for a race and getting up each morning with a goal to achieve. But there’s something really nice about sleeping in, and just having lazy mornings.

Yesterday was a really great day. J and I had a previously mentioned lazy morning, ha and then met some friends at a neighborhood pool. My little sister Bree came along too and we all just enjoyed the sun.

After we got home, we were all still pretty hot after our showers, so I made us a nice smoothie to cool us down. A smoothie (with a straw) really is the best cure on a hot summer day. My smoothie yesterday was a vanilla yogurt, banana, pb, and ice smoothie. So good and filling!

Later, I got to go see my parents, yes my parents soon to be house! They have found the perfect house for them, seriously it gorgeous and has the best views. This is from their deck. The best part? It’s only 4 minutes from my house!!

I think my new running route is going to consist of running up a hill to my parents several times a day;)

Do you wear sunblock outside? Me and J have to wear several coats or we will fry!

what’s your running schedule like right now?

About Sugar Plum Runner

Welcome to the Sugar Plum Runner! I grew up in WA state, but currently reside in UT with my husband Josh, son Jackson, and 2 daughters Lily and Claire. I love running, but I have never been so inspired to run, race, and blog about it since 4 years ago after I had Jackson. I grew up playing soccer and cheered in high school. My favorite part of both sports(and yes I consider cheer leading a sport) was the conditioning. I found myself running after practice was over on my own. That's when I realized that running may be the sport I really loved.

  1. Whoa, so many hills! I giggled when I saw J in a sea of pink floaties!

Looks like a great day at the pool!
I definitely wear sunblock outside now. I never did through my teens and early 20’s…I just didn’t really burn, but I am so freaked out about skin cancer now that I always have it on!

  3. I’m great about sunscreen if I plan to be outside all day. On sunday I took a short pontoon ride with my parents and didn’t wear any….big mistake!

  4. What I would give to be able to spend the day at the pool instead of in my cubicle! haha
