That One Time I Tried Yoga

workout

wednesday- 1.25 mile warm up, shoulder workout, yoga

Yesterday I did a short warm up and then worked my shoulders out. I haven’t done any arm workouts lately, and it’s time to get back into it! After my arm workout I thought I’d try a Youtube yoga video.

I think I lasted all of 2 minutes. Someone please direct me to a good beginners yoga video. Or if you’re in UT tell me about a place you like. I just can’t seem to grasp yoga, I get so bored!

Later that afternoon we met up with my mom and sisters for a hike. Josh and I did this hike a little while back when there was still snow on the ground. Note: the hike is significantly easier without snow, but you can’t go all the way up to the ‘donut waterfall'(the waterfall falls right into a perfect hole in the rocks looking like a donut).

The hike is family friendly, about 1.5 miles round trip and gorgeous!

After the hike I had a hot date to get ready for. Josh planned for us to get a couple’s massage and dinner. We love getting massages together and Josh is awesome at always finding a Groupon or Living Social deal. I had my first philly cheese steak! It wasn’t bad either(:

We headed back to my parents to pick up J and the sky was so beautiful. Little did I know it what was coming last night. We had a huge rain storm with lightning and the loudest thunder. J ended up in our bed for the first time in a few years! It was wild!

About Sugar Plum Runner

Welcome to the Sugar Plum Runner! I grew up in WA state, but currently reside in UT with my husband Josh, son Jackson, and 2 daughters Lily and Claire. I love running, but I have never been so inspired to run, race, and blog about it since 4 years ago after I had Jackson. I grew up playing soccer and cheered in high school. My favorite part of both sports(and yes I consider cheer leading a sport) was the conditioning. I found myself running after practice was over on my own. That's when I realized that running may be the sport I really loved.

I loved yoga when I was pregnant more then I enjoy it now. I try to do it once a week and usually only 15-20 minutes. There are some great yoga for runner’s ( http://www.runnersworld.com/runners-world-yoga-center ). My sister makes an awesome Philly Cheese Steak!

  2. You are hilarious with that yoga photo. I would look for a donation based yoga studio in your area or just go try a yoga class one day. More fun doing it in that kind of environment than in your living room. I feel you because I get a.d.d. doing that kind of stuff at home. It’s so good for you though!

  3. That’s such a nice relaxing day!

  4. I love yoga! We’ll have to do it sometime. I do have an easy yoga DVD you can borrow if you’d like! Also I have a friend that teaches yoga that may start doing a once a month free yoga class or something. I’ll keep you updated and we can go together. She’s really good.

  5. Your hike looks like it was a lot of fun! Gorgeous views! What didn’t you like about your yoga video? Was it too slow or fast? Different styles of yoga go at different speeds, so switching styles may help. I think Gaiam has produced some great beginner yoga videos, you could check them out! 🙂
