saturday-evening 2 miles on TM + legs

How was everyone’s Halloween weekend? I think this was one of my favorite years. J was so into having his friends over, dressing up, and trick or treating. We started the morning off with some ‘ghost’ pancakes and hot chocolate. I love making holidays special and different from other days. Josh got to eat breakfast with us too which is always a treat.

After breakfast we headed to Bree’s to get our nails done. She painted a web and spider on my nails and even did a little Frankenstein on J’s(he loves to be a part of what we’re doing).

This year we had the Halloween party at our house instead of Lee Ann’s but still had our tradition of pumpkin pizzas. It was a blast having everyone over and giving my MIL a break for once. I made 2 soups, and then everyone else brought the rest of the yummy food. I loved having a full house.

I wanted to make some cute Halloween cupcakes, but I guess I’m going crazy because I accidentally made brownies haha They did not turn out cute(I was attempting a ghost face?) or delicious, fail.

Josh made some really good homemade root beer. The kids thought the dry ice was so cool and frankly so did I ha.

Josh also set up some of his DJ lights and speakers in our empty living and dining room(sometimes it pays off not to have furniture yet haha) and everyone had a blast dancing.

Then it was trick or treating time. The kids were thrilled and we had quite the group. The weather was amazing. Wasn’t chilly at all and the night sky was so beautiful.

I did however, forget how tired J’s little legs can get. We only made it about 5 or 6 houses before him and his buddies were ready to head back home. He hadn’t nearly gotten enough candy for me yet haha

we are so lame when it comes to dressing up. Maybe one year we’ll get it right haha I was a witch, Josh a hipster, or a nerd, or Clark Kent, you choose. J had already taken his Transformers costume off.

By night, I was pooped. We slept in Saturday morning, and stayed pretty lazy throughout the day. BYU was playing, so we watched with my sister Bree and her family. And by watch I mean paint my nails and talk and eat with Bree.

By the time we got home, I was antsy from being lazy all day so I squeezed in a 2 mile run and some lunges/squats before heading to my sister Neeley’s family pictures.

My SIL Whit takes my sister Neeley’s pics every year, and I always go to make sure everyone’s lookin good=)  After we had more pizza and party at our house.

Sunday, the weather stayed pretty wet and windy so after church we hung out at home. I love Sunday’s and how they help me and my family focus, start new goals, and be with each other before the busy week starts.

what are your Halloween traditions?

About Sugar Plum Runner

Welcome to the Sugar Plum Runner! I grew up in WA state, but currently reside in UT with my husband Josh, son Jackson, and 2 daughters Lily and Claire. I love running, but I have never been so inspired to run, race, and blog about it since 4 years ago after I had Jackson. I grew up playing soccer and cheered in high school. My favorite part of both sports(and yes I consider cheer leading a sport) was the conditioning. I found myself running after practice was over on my own. That's when I realized that running may be the sport I really loved.
