wknd recap+ NYE 2014

Happy Monday! This last week felt like a looonng weekend even though Josh was working Friday. I love having him home in the middle of the week, so Thursday was an extra fun day.

We spent New Years Eve with Josh’s family. His mom made copy cat Olive Garden soups that were so good. It’s been pretty dang cold in UT so hot soup hit the spot. After eating, we spent the night playing Ticket to Ride. Only Whit had ever played it, but it was fun!

The boys ran around like crazy playing with toys and play doh until about 9:30pm. We used the Netflix countdown to act like it was midnight for the kids, it was hilarious a dance party! After we went out into the freezing cold and did sparklers. J definitely thought that was the best part.

We drove home and looked at all the fireworks and any houses that still had Christmas lights up. This house had it’s own radio station and timed lights, so cool.

New Years day we spent cleaning up Christmas. It’s so sad, but at the same time it feels good to clean up and get organized again. My dad and I took our trees to a nearby lot that our city collects them at. It was a beautiful morning.

That night Josh took us out to Free Birds one of our favorite quick eats. I got the veggie burrito with extra pico, my fav!

Speaking of food, we tried this new Hawaiian  place called Mo Bettah(In Lehi by Thanksgiving Point for locals) and it was so delicious. This is their ‘mini’ plate of terriyaki chicken. The meat was so moist and flavorful.

I am in a huge running funk! I haven’t ran in a few weeks(or any workout for that matter) and I’m just enjoying it. So maybe I shouldn’t call it a funk, more like a break. So until I get back at it, hope you enjoy my updates on life!

do you ever take running breaks?

what was your NYE highlight?

About Sugar Plum Runner

Welcome to the Sugar Plum Runner! I grew up in WA state, but currently reside in UT with my husband Josh, son Jackson, and 2 daughters Lily and Claire. I love running, but I have never been so inspired to run, race, and blog about it since 4 years ago after I had Jackson. I grew up playing soccer and cheered in high school. My favorite part of both sports(and yes I consider cheer leading a sport) was the conditioning. I found myself running after practice was over on my own. That's when I realized that running may be the sport I really loved.

  1. I meant to get back into running in December, but I only got a few runs due to a cold. I’m hoping January is more active, I’ve got the princess half in February! It looks like you had a great end to the holidays!
