Scott Family Theme 2015

First week back from the holidays and it’s already Thursday! I feel like this week is flying by, probably because I put off so many things the past couple weeks and now I’m playing catch up.

Last year we started a new tradition. We’ve decided to have a theme each year for the family (you can find last years theme here). This year Josh and I decided we wanted it to be something to do with service. We feel like 2014 brought our family so many wonderful blessings(we paid off my car, bought a new house, we all maintained good health, and the list goes on and on) that we want to pay it forward. Each month we’ll pray to know who or how we can serve someone(s) as a family.

Since this year for New Years Eve we went to my in law’s for dinner I presented the theme for family night this last Monday. We opened our poppers(they have paper crowns and a little trinket inside), talked about what it means to serve, and watched this video (tear jerker)to help J understand a little more.

I found this free quote on Pinterest by Dieter F. Uchtdorf(an apostle of the LDS church) and had it printed at Walgreens.

I am so excited for this new year and for our family. I post with my running/health goals to come!

what’s your #1 goal this new year?

About Sugar Plum Runner

Welcome to the Sugar Plum Runner! I grew up in WA state, but currently reside in UT with my husband Josh, son Jackson, and 2 daughters Lily and Claire. I love running, but I have never been so inspired to run, race, and blog about it since 4 years ago after I had Jackson. I grew up playing soccer and cheered in high school. My favorite part of both sports(and yes I consider cheer leading a sport) was the conditioning. I found myself running after practice was over on my own. That's when I realized that running may be the sport I really loved.

  1. Family goals are an awesome idea!!!! This year I’m focusing on “chance” I’m trying to not schedule myself so far in advance, and instead just see where life takes me.

  2. Beautiful quote!! Being of service to others is such a wonderful thing, it’s amazing how a small act can really turn someone’s day around!
