How to get your mojo back if you haven’t ran/worked out in awhile


tuesday- 3 miles on treadmill + bicep/tricep workout

I think the last time I officially worked out was last wednesday when I went on a walk with my mom. It’s been awhile since I’ve felt up to working out and after not working out getting back into can be daunting. Here are a few tips that help motivate me to get back at it, whatever your ‘it’ may be(for me it’s running).

  1. start slow. There’s no need to jump right back into what you were doing and get injured. Start slow and build it back up. It took x amount of days to lose your fitness, so give yourself x amount of days to get it back. Yesterday I ran 2 minutes slower than I normally do and that’s totally okay.
  2. Don’t over do it. The key is to ENJOY your workout at least a little so that you’re willing to do it again. If you go crazy and do your max, the next day you’re probably going to feel like death. It’s okay, and good, to feel sore the next day but you don’t want to pull a muscle or anything your first day back.
  3. Do a circuit workout. I’ve preached this lots of times before but it’s true, a circuit workout will keep you entertained. Running for me can get boring, so when I’m coming back I always make up a circuit workout. Yesterday I ran 1 mile, then I did 10 reps of various bicep/tricep exercises repeated 3 times.
  4. Stretch. Soreness is inevitable when starting a new workout plan. Save yourself some extra discomfort and stretch before/after your workout and drink lots of water=)

Ya it’s cool if you need to just lay on your TM after…

Some randomness that I call life…

Winter finally decided to come to UT. I seriously think winters are beautiful here, but I’m still not a huge fan of the cold.

Monday was pouring rain, so I met up with some friends at the Dinosaur Museum. J had so much fun digging for dinosaur bones.

That night we went to our neighbors house to watch the championship game. We had a lot of fun but I think J had the best time. He met a new friend that had the same name, they were destined to be besties.

And nothing beats new nail color. You can say me and my sisters are kinda obsessed with doing our nails.
